Decatur Metro | August 24, 2012

James took this pic of a new restaurant sign hanging in the old Feast space along East Howard Avenue in the Old Decatur neighborhood.  MAR’s website describes the venture thusly…

Wood-roasted Fish. Coastal Tacos.  Tostados.

Ceviche. Aguachile. Sashimi. Carpaccio. Oysters. Lobster + Crab Buckets.

Tequilas. Mojitos.  Micheladas. Margaritas.

What are Your Decatur Book Festival “Must-See” Events?

Decatur Metro | August 24, 2012

OK folks.  Book fest is only one week away.

This ain’t like doing your taxes, mowing your lawn, or cutting the dog’s toenails.  Do not procrastinate on figuring out your Decatur Book Festival must-sees!  Otherwise you’re doomed to confusion, crying into trade paperback self-help books, and eating an obscene amount of $3 festival-priced King of Pops popsicles while you try to explain to your family/friends you MUST attend The Art of Procrastination featuring John Perry and that’s why you can’t go to The Seed Underground: A Growing Revolution to Save Food featuring Janisse Ray.

So here’s the schedule in full (with LINKS!).  Isn’t it great?  I stole it from the DBF website.  Tell us what you’re planning to go see, because we’d rather just take your advice than make the decisions for ourselves.  Thanks in advance!

The “Invisible Bike Helmet” is Here

Decatur Metro | August 24, 2012

DEM provided this link in FFAF, but it seemed the video was interesting enough to share it a bit more prominently.  Two Swedish designers have come up with an “invisible bike helmet”, which is basically an airbag collar that deploys around your head in a fall.   Check out the end of the video above to see it in action!
