Wow! Congratulations, Decatur Chefs! I know the James Beard Award is quite prestigious but I am also nominating Billy Allin for the Oh My Gosh You Found a Way to Get Me to Try and Like Brussel Sprouts Award. Scott Peacock qualifies for a similar award but with Rutabaga. . . .
We are so lucky to have these chefs in Decatur–AND IN WALKING DISTANCE!
Amen.
I have to say Billy Allin cranks out some of the best food I have ever put in my mouth. He makes gnocchi that is out of this world.
Good luck Billy!!!!
Congrats to both chefs.
I love Scott Peacock and Watershed. He and the restaurant’s owners were among the first to see Decatur’s great potential as a dining destination. Scott – my gratitude for your food and your vision.
For me , Billy’s food at Cakes & Ale is on it’s own separate planet. Every meal is amazing. If I could pick only one restaurant to visit for the rest of my life, it would be Cakes & Ale.
If there is a James Beard award for desserts, Cynthia Wong should be nominated !
Ditto re: Wong for the Phatty Cakes alone. . . .
