Trackside Employees Get a Helping Hand

    Decatur Metro | January 26, 2009

Robert Elrod reports that yesterday’s Soup-Off at the Corner Pub raised an impressive $7,000 for the Trackside Employee Fund.   Also, Robert adds that “there will be a Chowderoff this Saturday at 4PM, and owner Joshua Elrod will donate 20% of the proceeds to the Fund.”

Trackside “refugee” David over at InDecatur has pictures and a report from the event.

Does anyone know if there’s anything planned to help the folks at the 5th Earl?

I’ve been waiting for word “DD”. I believe I heard they’ve established a similar fund at Decatur First for 5th Earl employees, but I haven’t yet seen details on any sort of fundraiser…though I believe one is in the works.

      You’ll know when I know!

Dear Friends of the 5th Earl,

As many of you know, the 5th Earl Market suffered severe damage due to a fire last week that started next door at Trackside Tavern. Thankfully, no one was injured; however, the damage is extensive. Due to the condition of our space, the 5th Earl Market will be closed for business until we are able to rebuild.

This rebuild will take several months, and one of the most important things to us is to retain our wonderful, hardworking and dedicated staff. Most of our team has been with us since we opened two years ago, and it is our goal to re-open with these same people, as they truly are the ones who make the 5th Earl experience what it is.

We will be hosting a fundraiser THIS Friday, Jan 30th from 5-9 pm at Parker’s on Ponce. 116 E. Ponce De Leon Ave. Decatur, GA 30030. They will be graciously donating a portion of the evening’s proceeds to the 5th Earl Market Employee Fund. Join us for a drink or bite to eat in the bar. We’ll all be there.

In addition, bartenders will be accepting checks on our behalf or donations can be sent via mail to:

      5th Earl Employee Fund
      Decatur First Bank
      Attn: Ann Berg
      1120 Commerce Drive
      Decatur, GA 30030

Thank you all for your nice emails and calls-the support we have received has been
uplifting. We look forward to seeing you all on Friday.

      Sincerely,

      David & Brian

I just received an e-mail regarding a fundraiser for 5th Earl Employees. Since I did not see it here, I thought I would post.

It appears that it will be at Parkers on Ponce Friday night from 5-9

you can read the info and look at pictures of the damage on their web site

Glad to see they are doing something. I will certainly be there to support.
