More Details on the Brick Store's Rue de Leon Space
Decatur Metro | July 9, 2008From MeloMom, straight off the Atlanta Cuisine Restaurant Talk Forum (which seems to get more and more of its info off DM!)…
We also heard a little more about the new location in the Rue de Leon space. They have signed a lease (I heard about this on the Decatur Metro blog) and Mike says they may be open by November. He finds the Decatur people a lot easier to work with than the Atlanta folks (big surprise). As we’ve heard previously, it will be menu-driven, still with great beers, but not really pub food. They will still keep an eye on prices to keep things reasonable. There is an unused courtyard behind this space that I think might join up with their current location, and Mike said he would love to have the use of that for an outdoor “beer garden.” Me, too!
Though I’m pretty sure these two properties aren’t adjacent (this tax map [pdf] clearly shows it), an outdoor beer garden sounds great!
i’ll drink to that
While the properties may not be directly adjacent there is definitely a courtyard of some type that is adjacent to each- take a look at maps.live.com and center on the area behind Rue de Leon and click on satellite view or birds eye view (or go to maps.google.com and click on satellite view).
A beer garden would be a terrific addition to downtown Decatur.
That’s true Doug, but from the tax map that property looks like it belongs to 418 Church (aka Blue Moon, aka the only residential building left in the downtown core)
The area between the current Brick Store and the Rue de Leon is currently used for parking, dumpsters, and such. Not sure who owns it. If all the merchants backing up to it agreed, perhaps something could be done with it.
