What Would You Put Between a Tattoo Parlour and a Seafood Restaurant?

Decatur Metro | July 2, 2008

Scott notes that there’s brown paper in the windows of the old parole office between Wahoo! and Ink & Dagger Tattoo Parlour.  To development junkies, brown paper fuels our speculation.  When something is going on behind closed doors, we can’t wait to find out what it is!

Based purely on its neighbors…what would you expect to find between a seafood restaurant and a tattoo parlour?  I would guess some sort of seaman’s clothing boutique.  (Get outta here ya Blue Jean Bandits, before I run ye threw!)

Well the actual reality is a bit less exciting…according to Russ Abbott of Ink & Dagger, Wahoo!’s owner, Pam Ledbetter, is renting the space for an office/storage.  Now admittedly, this isn’t the most thrilling news ever, but certainly an indicator that Wahoo! is doing well enough to expand a bit…even in a tough economy!  No wonder.  I LOVE their shrimp and grits!  Plus we always get great service there.

Preston Craig Closes Up DSC

Decatur Metro | July 2, 2008

Creative Loafing’s Mayor of Ponce laments the end of a Friday night tradition: Decatur Social Club at Azul…

“It was a wonderful four years of sweaty dancing to “Deceptacon” on top of the bench seats inside the cramp, dark restaurant. No matter what show you went to that night, you were sure to converge in Decatur for after hours drinking of cheap PBR pitchers and cheaper shots of Jager. Its where your MySpace friends came to life. DSC got you laid, made you friends, lost your cell phone and/or camera, and hopefully caused irre-hep-table damage to your liver and brain cells.

And that’s only if you were doing it right.”

Craig himself notes the end of an era over on his blog kissatlanta.

The CL post also notes to “stay tuned for coverage of Preston Craig’s new weekly East Atlanta pub crawl.”
