If You Missed Bill McKibben's Talk in Decatur…

Decatur Metro | March 14, 2008

…make sure to check out CL reporter Thomas Wheatley’s extended interview with the global warming guru over on Fresh Loaf.

Wheatley has him expounding on why Atlanta sucks smoggy wind when it comes to carbon emissions, what we can do to help fight global warming, and why people in the suburbs don’t have any friends.  (Man, I wish I could use that excuse.)

Listening to it had me wondering why I still haven’t replaced all of our incandescent light blubs with compact fluorescents, what the city of Decatur can do, and has already done, to reduce its energy consumption (anyone have info on this?), and why anyone would run a food processor in the middle of a phone interview.

Nice work Tom.  You recovered from those pregnant pauses with grace and style.

315 W. Ponce Plan Unveiling Meeting Date Set

Decatur Metro | March 14, 2008

For those of you chomping at the bit to get your hands on the developer’s plans for 315 W. Ponce, here’s an update from the “Decatur Residents” group…

“The rescheduled meeting for the “working group” has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00 pm in the conference room at City Hall.

Also just a quick note, in both the city summary and Urban Collage’s notes the size of the property is listed incorrectly. The entire Wachovia property according to Dekalb County Tax Records, the legal description and the property map is actually 4.62 acres not 4.95 acres.”

Perhaps there is more than one land lot involved?

All I know is that if I had a nickel for every little thing that was inaccurate on the DeKalb Tax Records, I’d be able to send my non-existent kids to Paideia.

But they sure are a great resource if you’re looking to see how much your neighbor paid for their house!
