Suspect Who Ran Over Atlanta Officer Patrick Apoian Turns Himself In

    Decatur Metro | August 16, 2011

The AJC reports that the man accused of running over Atlanta Police investigator Patrick Apoian turned himself in yesterday after a month of hiding out.  Here’s a blurb…

Despite pleas from his family to turn himself in, [Khalif ] Edwards remained on the run until Monday. Family members insisted they did not know his whereabouts until receiving the call Monday. He is expected to face numerous charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated battery, simple battery, obstruction of a law enforcement officer and cruelty to children, police said.

The AJC also reports that Officer Apoian is still recovering from serious injuries from the event, but was sent home last week.

Thanks to Bijoux404 for the heads up.

    Decatur Metro | July 27, 2011

Just a reminder to all Decatur area residents:

Eat out tonight at Avellino’s, The Nook, Fox Bros. BBQ, and Smith’s Olde Bar and help Atlanta Police Detective Pat Apoian, who was run over last week during a traffic stop just outside of the Decatur City Limits.   The Nook, Fox Bros and Smith’s will be donating 15% of all sales, while Avellino’s will donate 20% and all tips.

The AJC has a nice write up on it today and cites DAVE-FM’s Rich “Sully” Sullivan for helping organize the event.

Atlanta Police Officer Intentionally Hit By Car Just Outside of Decatur

    Decatur Metro | July 21, 2011

UPDATE: The AJC reports that the suspect has been identified as Khalif Edwards by Channel 2 Action News.

The AJC reports that an Atlanta Police officer was hit by a driver that he had pulled over just outside of the Decatur city limits at College and Sisson Avenue, near the old Dannaman’s grocery store location this evening.

According to the AJC, 9-year veteran of the Atlanta Police force Patrick Apoian got into an altercation with a driver after a traffic stop.

Apoian was run over and was alert while being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of leg and chest injuries. He was in stable condition late Thursday night and is expected to survive his injuries, police said.

The suspect had not been located as of 9pm this evening and that he may have had kids in the car with them.  Fox5 says police are looking for a gold Honda.

I saw Atlanta Police rush down DeKalb Avenue this afternoon around this time and turn down onto College Ave.  This must have been the reason.  Geez…
