Decatur Police Alert: Three Burglaries in Last Three Days

On 07/19/2014 at approximately 11:28 pm, officers responded to a residential burglary in the 100 block of Feld Avenue. The home was last secured at 8:30 pm. Entry was made by forcing a rear door. A 50” television, game system, sound system and jewelry were stolen. There were vehicles and dogs present at the home. The home had an alarm system that was not armed during the time frame of the burglary.
On 07/20/2014 at approximately 9:25 pm, officers responded to a business alarm at 1 West Court Square and observed the glass front door to the business shattered. Surveillance footage shows the suspect using rocks to make entry through the front door and stealing five cartons of cigarettes and a candy bar. The suspect is described as a black male, 30-40 years old, medium build, light complexion, receding hair line, close cut beard, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jean shorts. *A photo of the suspect is attached. On 07/21/2014 at approximately 9:24 am, officers responded to a previous burglary in the 600 block of West Ponce de Leon Avenue. The complainant stated that between 07/18/2014 at 4:00 pm and 07/19/2014 at 5:00 pm, an unknown person entered her secured office and forced open her desk drawer. No items were taken. There were no signs of forced entry to the office.
