Rena Sofer Is Leaving Los Angeles — But Is Lois Cerullo Also Leaving General Hospital?

Life Imitates Art as Lois Cerullo Actor Departs for New York

In a storyline fit for television, Lois Cerullo will be momentarily leaving Port Charles behind as the actress who plays her, bids farewell to Hollywood.

Rena Sofer, a veteran of General Hospital, shared on her social media platforms that after nearly 35 years in Los Angeles, she and her husband Sanford Bookstaver are relocating to New York. Los Angeles has been the home base for the filming of the ABC daytime drama.

Sofer expressed her emotions on Instagram, saying, “Yes I’m getting emotional. LA is where I met and had my children, met the man of my dreams, and built an incredible life. I’ve enjoyed tremendous success in the industry and made lifelong friends whom I will miss dearly. … Thank you LA for everything. Now, we move on to quieter, more peaceful times. And yes, interrupted by a leaf blower — how very LA! Off we go now, with our 5 dogs in tow, to start our new chapter!”

UPDATE: Continuation in Role Despite Relocation

Despite earlier reports suggesting that Sofer might receive a dedicated exit storyline on General Hospital, with the possibility of a return left open, it has now been confirmed by Soap Opera Digest that Sofer will stay on the show. She plans to commute to Los Angeles for filming, joining several other cast members who also travel in for shoots.

Since 1993, Sofer has intermittently portrayed the character of Lois, earning a Daytime Emmy Award for her role in 1995. Apart from her long-standing part on General Hospital, she has also been known for her role as Quinn Fuller on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2013 to 2022. Moreover, Sofer has appeared in a variety of prime-time shows including 24, Melrose Place, Once Upon a Time, and NCIS, among others.
