Morgan Gillory’s budding romance might be fizzling out before it even fully blooms.
In the first season of High Potential, Tom, a janitor who became a nurse, quickly won over Morgan’s heart. However, with JD Pardo’s new role as a regular on Netflix’s series Trinity, the chances of Morgan and Tom’s relationship advancing have significantly diminished.
The couple already faced challenges maintaining their relationship with Tom moving to San Diego for work, as depicted in the Season 1 finale where he almost didn’t make it to the police gala. Managing a long-distance relationship is tough enough, but being on different TV shows complicates things further.

Is There Still Hope for Tom and Morgan?
While it’s technically feasible for Tom to reappear in *High Potential*, perhaps in a brief guest appearance, the likelihood of him and Morgan staying together long-term seems low. *High Potential* has commenced production for Season 2, while *Trinity* likely hasn’t started filming yet. Before his casting in Netflix’s show, *High Potential*’s showrunner Todd Harthan expressed optimism about Tom’s return in the new season. Speaking to TVLine in February, Harthan mentioned, “I love the guy, and I love the character. There’s a lot of affection, and nobody did anything bad to each other. There’s something nice there, so who knows?”
Other Romantic Possibilities for Morgan
This uncertainty may be welcome news to fans eagerly anticipating a romantic spark between Morgan and Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), following the classic will-they-won’t-they trope among flirty colleagues.
However, Tom and Karadec aren’t the only significant figures in Morgan’s life. We also have Ludo (Taran Killam), whose backstory with his ex is still somewhat mysterious. Harthan hinted at exploring this storyline, saying, “I think the audience has a real appetite to find out what really happened. What was it like the day they sat down and had a conversation about what wasn’t working? How did they decide on co-parenting? What caused that? So now it’s our job to come up with a story.”
