When a building not only serves its primary function but also acts as a promotional tool, it effectively embodies the spirit of the brand it represents. The Gaurs Group, a prominent property developer in India, aspired for their new sales gallery to transcend traditional business roles and also function as a testament to their architectural and design prowess.
The design firm Confluence was tasked with creating this space in Ghaziabad, India. They embarked on the design of the Gaur NYC Experience Centre, drawing inspiration from natural landscapes. “We modeled the design on the fluidity and organic shapes found in water-carved caves,” explains Vineeta Singhania, the co-founder and lead architect at Confluence.

The entrance features a blend of textures reminiscent of the natural environment. It includes angled glass that, together with vertical metal louvers, mimics the movement of waves. The expansive atrium is defined by lush plantings set atop a layer of river stones, enhancing the sense of open, breathable space.
Although the structure is impressive, it is designed to be temporary, with a lifespan expected to cover the sales period of the Gaur NYC apartments, roughly estimated at one year. The architects chose to incorporate simple, sustainable materials with an emphasis on future reuse.
The seemingly solid stone walls of the gallery are ingeniously crafted from a steel structure with mesh overlay, then finished with plaster. These walls feature asymmetrical cut-outs that play with light and shadows. The intent is to repurpose many elements, including the furniture and hand-knotted carpets, which will later adorn the developer’s various clubs and office spaces throughout the region.
The gallery is designed to captivate visitors with surprises and thoughtful details. Portal-like openings and glass doors ensure spatial connectivity while providing subtle separation. The floors are laid with polished marble in alternating shades arranged diagonally, adding an element of understated luxury. Above, a light, flowing ribbon-like light fixture adds an ethereal touch to the space.
There are several lounge areas designed to offer potential clients a comfortable environment, akin to a high-end hotel, to discuss their options. The café area, reflecting a Manhattan-like lifestyle, is particularly popular among visitors. There is also a theater-style room for multimedia presentations, enhancing the buyer’s experience. The upper level houses private workspaces for executives, designed to balance seclusion with the need for openness.
In designing this immersive center, the simplest elements were strategically used to foster positive interactions that extend beyond mere business dealings. “The unexpected organic forms are intended to surprise and elevate the experience for all visitors,” Singhania remarks with satisfaction.
