This week in Chicago, the city celebrated as characters Burgess and Ruzek from Chicago P.D. finally exchanged vows in the climax of Season 12. (For more details, check our exclusive interview with the series’ showrunner Gwen Sigan about the unconventional ceremony.)
As #Burzek became official, they joined the ranks of several #OneChicago duos who have walked down the aisle in the history of the franchise. Across Fire, P.D., and Med, there have been a total of 12 weddings, ranging from grand church celebrations to quick courthouse elopements, and even unique locations like fish stores and bowling alleys. (It’s clear that when plans fail, the Chicago teams excel at thinking on their feet!) The series also delighted fans with a marriage between beloved characters from Fire and P.D..
However, not every wedding led to a happily-ever-after (apologies to fans of “Dawsey” and “Upstead”), and one couple from Med had their wedding plans dashed by an unexpected twist. Regardless, each celebration has been unforgettable for various reasons, both joyous and otherwise. Yet, only one can claim the top spot as the best #OneChicago wedding.
