Jul: Did the Rapper Create His Latest Hit Using AI? Discover Now!

By Tyler Jenkins

Jul : le rappeur a-t-il composé sa dernière chanson avec de l’IA ?

Last Friday, the artist from Marseille released a new track titled “You and Me”. Since then, he has been accused by his fans of using AI, a practice that is becoming increasingly common in the music industry.

“They want to replace me with AI.” The lyrics from Phenomenal now ring hollow, given the recent allegations against Jul. He is suspected of using artificial intelligence to produce his latest song, You and Me. Indeed, the track sounds out of character with his usual style. Like a song by Kendji Girac, this track features prominent guitar and high-pitched notes. This has led to doubts among his listeners: Did Jul use AI to create You and Me? The accusations have intensified, supported by a video demonstration from beatmaker Lnkhey.

The song’s poor sound quality, abrupt ending, and a software that fails to handle stereo sound are all issues that the beatmaker claims are typical of the AI named Suno. He suggests that a second AI tool would have been needed to replicate the rapper’s voice. “It’s full of little mistakes like these, that’s actually how you get caught,” he concludes. To make matters worse, Jul had promoted the song using AI.

AI Detection by Some Platforms

This incident has raised concerns among some users on X. “This industry is doomed,” declares Lnkhey. Another post with 1000 likes adds: “If Jul really generated his latest track using full AI, it’s really serious. It opens the door to something very bad for the industry.” This is a phenomenon that streaming platforms are fighting against, such as Deezer, which implemented software a few months ago that detects and flags the presence of AI.
