The American singer appears to have made peace with Michael Collins. He released his new single, “Real Thing,” this Wednesday, May 28.
Almost three years following the release of his last album, Drugdealer, a project led by Michael Collins, has just dropped a brand new track in collaboration with Weyes Blood. This new partnership had been eagerly awaited by their fans, something both artists playfully noted on social media.

Real Thing, a folk groovy track reminiscent of The Mamas & The Papas, is ideal for a gray morning, best enjoyed with a cup of coffee and a good book. The song features a soulful bass tempo, complemented by a violin and the ethereal voice of the Californian artist narrating a tale of uncertain love, torn between someone who has abandoned them and another who loves purely. A gentle saxophone elegantly concludes the tune.
A Harmonious Blend of Talents
This song signifies a much-anticipated return, as the angelic voice of Weyes Blood was last heard with Caroline Polachek on the cover of Butterfly Net, two years ago. Her last album, And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow, was released in 2022, the same year as her collaborator, Drugdealer.
Real Pain is produced by the versatile artist Max Baby, who has previously worked with Clara Luciani and Hannah Jadagu. Sometimes dubbed the “French Julian Casablancas,” the producer marks this revival with his perfect ear that never fails him.
