Harry Potter Series: Draco Malfoy, Molly Weasley, Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon Among 9 Roles Cast

HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series is expanding its cast with nine additional actors, including several key antagonists for the young wizard protagonist.

New Cast Additions

The role of Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter’s enduring adversary from Slytherin House, will be portrayed by newcomer Lox Pratt. Johnny Flynn, known for his roles in “Ripley” and “Lovesick,” will assume the character of Draco’s scheming father, Lucius Malfoy.

Other notable additions include Bel Powley from “A Small Light” and Daniel Rigby of “Renegade Nell,” who will be seen as Harry’s grumpy Muggle caretakers, Petunia and Vernon Dursley. Bertie Carvel will step into the shoes of Cornelius Fudge, the head of the Ministry of Magic. The cast also welcomes Katherine Parkinson, recognized from “The IT Crowd” and “Humans,” who will play the role of Molly Weasley, mother to Ron Weasley. Newcomers Leo Earley, Alessia Leoni, and Sienna Moosah join as Hogwarts students Seamus Finnigan, Parvati Patil, and Lavender Brown respectively.

The main trio of Hogwarts students will be played by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The adult cast features John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

About the Series

The “Harry Potter” TV series, set to start production in the summer of 2025, is touted as a “faithful adaptation” of J.K. Rowling’s celebrated novels. The series promises to capture the rich details and beloved characters that have enchanted “Harry Potter” fans for more than 25 years. While a specific release date has not been set, the premiere could be as late as 2027.
