Small Dog Found South of East Lake Golf Course

    Decatur Metro | December 16, 2011 | 2:38 pm

    Andrea writes in…

I found this dog in the attached picture [Wednesday] in our neighborhood(we live one mile south of East Lake Golf Course). He looks to be young (not a puppy though) and possibly a Miniature Pinscher/Chihuhua mix. He’s very sweet and looks to be well taken care of but lost from his home. I have him at my house until i can find his home. If anyone comes forward they can either email me or call me at 770-722-3372.

Siamese Cat Lost in Medlock Area After Owners Receive Anonymous Note

    Decatur Metro | December 2, 2011 | 4:48 pm

Penelope sent in this note and info yesterday about…

LOST, Beautiful Siamese Cat. Seal Point, intense blue eyes, neutered male, has probably lost his collar. ‘Siam’ is very friendly and will come to you if invited.

Last seen Nov.20 at 2257 Vistamont rd. 30033 (Medlock)

We love him dearly and are offering a reward for his return.

Please contact: Penelope or Robert. 404-633-7709 (home) 404-808-9374 (cell)

The weird part about this story is that the owners received an anonymous letter about their cat just days before he disappeared.  You can read it after the jump.

    Bike Missing in Oakhurst

    Decatur Metro | December 1, 2011 | 11:04 am

    Heather wrote in yesterday…

We live in Oakhurst, on Greenwood Place near College Avenue. Sunday night our family went to dinner, after my daughter had ridden her bike up and down our street a few times. We keep our bikes unlocked, but so far haven’t had a problem since they are pretty well hidden from passers-by. When we returned home, there was a bike that did not belong to us or neighbors lying on its side on the sidewalk in front of our house, which immediately got our attention. As we walked toward the house, we noticed that my daughter’s bike was missing. We went back to look at the bike left behind and discovered it had a flat rear tire.

Our first assumption was that someone had a flat and borrowed my daughter’s bike (since the other bikes and ride-on toys were all still there–even my nicer mountain bike). We thought the owner of the flat tire bike might come back to claim it, and hoped they would also bring back my daughter’s bike. Just in case, we secured the stranger’s bike and brought my bike inside.

Here we are Wednesday, and my daughter’s bike is still missing. It is a purple and white 20″ cruiser, with fenders and foam tape wrapped around the handlebars, which was coming off. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of it. The bike that was left here is a KHS FXT Sport, a blue mountain bike.

Unless someone comes forward, I suppose we will make a police report, which I was hoping would not be necessary, since we were hoping her bike was borrowed, and not stolen. Perhaps the bike that was left was also “borrowed,” and someone out there will be happy to know it is secure at our house.

Older Dog Lost Near Candler and Glenwood Road

    Decatur Metro | November 28, 2011 | 3:35 pm

    Sherri writes in…

Lost Black Cocker Doodle Male Answers to Jeff.

Jefferson Reiley is older dog, 12 to be exact. Partially blind and seems to be losing his hearing as well. He and his German Sheppard mixed sister went missing from my yard around 12 Noon Friday November 25th near intersection of Candler Rd and Glenwood Rd in the White Oak community of Decatur. His sister returned, but he is still missing. He was last seen playing with another dog on Eastwood Drive between Ellington St and Old Hickory St at around 11:00 AM. He is black with a bit of white on his chin. He is neutered, but he is not wearing a collar as he had just been bathed prior to going missing. I miss my son horribly. He is a direct connection to my deceased husband, as they were great pals, so his return is of utmost importance. Reward if located and returned safely.

    Thank you in advance!

Small Dog Named “Heidi” Found in Oakhurst

    Decatur Metro | November 27, 2011 | 2:50 pm

I’m posting this a few hours later than I should have.  Jennifer writes in…

She was found in Oakhurst – first on Fayetteville Road, Friday, 11/24. Then she wondered over to Russell Street that same day which is how we came upon her.

Her heart-shaped tag reads, “Heidi” but there is no phone, nor address. On the other side it looks like a worn out pic of Betty Boop. She appears to be just a few years old. She has on a pink collar with silver spike designs around it.

You cannot tell in the photo but she has white tips on her front feet and a white chest. She has warmed up to us – maybe because of the food we’ve given her but she has snapped at several people!

People can contact me, Jennifer at 404-408.7697. Come Sunday afternoon however, we will have to take her to the Humane Society or the pound due to upcoming travel that we have.

    Bo the Cat Found!!

    Decatur Metro | November 26, 2011 | 12:36 pm

Bo the cat is back home!  Sarah writes in…

Bo the cat was found last night. He’s home now, due in no small part to the simple fact that people knew about him. We appreciate your help in getting the word out. Once people knew Bo was missing they looked for him, and kept looking until he was found.

    We are so grateful.

    Awesome news!

Found Shihtzu Staying at Village Vets

    Decatur Metro | October 28, 2011 | 8:46 pm

    Kelly writes in…

He’s currently lodged at the Village Vets but can’t stay there much longer. We found him Wed night at about 7:30pm. He appears to be a 12-15 pound Shihtzu male. He was on the sidewalk on Candler St. near the Recreation Center just sitting there with his leash attached and hanging next to him. He seems friendly, groomed, neutered, and obviously belongs to somebody. Unfortunately he had no tags and no microchip for ID. We asked several neighbors right in that area but nobody recognized him. If anybody knows this dog or has a lead on his owner please call Village Vets! Thank you.
