Indoor Cat Missing Around Avery Street

    Decatur Metro | October 19, 2011

Sara directs us this this webpage she’s set up for her indoor cat “Bo” who was accidentally let out last night on Avery Street in Decatur.  On her website she states…

He’s a big, fluffy tortoise-colored cat. He has no tags — he’s an indoor cat.

Please contact us if you see Bo. We’re heartbroken.

Contact info available on the webpage.

Oh, no! Be sure all the neighbors are aware and if you can, get them to check garages, crawlspaces, storage sheds, etc. where he might have hidden and become trapped. (That happened to my cat one time.)

Excellent suggestions! We’ve had several neighborhood cats turn up in crawlspaces– I’ve accidentally locked up two over the years. Cats can entertain themselves for quite some time(several days, even!) before sending up a meow. And this is the time of year when folks are under the house tuning up furnaces, so the kitties can sneak right past.

        Bo- Git on home!

Good luck to Bo for finding the way home.

Oh, no– how awful for poor Bo & his family. It’s the possibility of this very situation that makes us paranoid enough to keep both our indoor kitties tag-collared & microchipped! Sending positive thoughts into the universe that this sweet-faced boy finds his way home safely…

When my indoor kitty got out we searched for the entire day and put up flyers only to find she had hidden under the back deck of our house. They usually won’t go far.

My10 year old indoor cat escaped a couple of years ago and was missing for 3 days. Every day I searched, put up signs, worried, cried, blamed myself, etc. Then on the 3rd day I came home from work, at there she was, sitting at my door. I pray you have the same ending.

Now we see if DM’s sterling lost/found dog resolution record extends to cats…

      Good luck in the search!

I’ve posted in the Midway Woods neighborhood group… one ‘hood over, but just in case!

      Any updates?

Look up in the trees…I’ll walk around tomorrow in the neighborhood and do the same. Often scared cats will go up in a tree and can stay there for days.

The next door neighbor reported some credible sightings, the last one being Thursday. Someone at the condos by College and Columbia called and said she’d seen a cat something like Bo over there, but she really wasn’t sure and some time had passed.

We’re still going out and looking, posting signs and talking to people. We really appreciate the community support. Bo trusted us, and we’re doing all we can to bring him home safely.

Thanks for asking for the update.

I just feel terrible and really hope he makes it home. I’ve often had nightmares of this happening to one of my three kitties. Keep us posted and best wishes.

Bo has been seen, in all probability. The Jardeens of South Columbia Drive called to report that they had seen a “brown and black cat with a face just like the one in the picture” at 140 Shadowmoor Drive, at the corner of Shadowmoor and Hilldale. The cat was headed along Hilldale, going towards Derrydown.

I’ll put more posters in the area. Please keep an eye out.
