Blue Tarp To Give Inaugural Brewery Tour/Tasting This Weekend

    Decatur Metro | August 22, 2013

    This from Scoutmob…

    Saturday, August 24, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Blue Tarp Brewing’s Inaugural Tour
BlueTarp Brewing Co., 731 E. College Ave. (Decatur)

We’ve been waiting for this moment: the day when Decatur’s craft brew scene gets even better with not one, but two new breweries. Now, BlueTarp is ready to open the floodgates and invite local hop-heads into their brewery with their first-ever tasting and tour. Plunk down a mere $10, see the shiny new facility for yourself, try five 6-ounce tastes of the goods and raise your glass to the craft beer paradise that charming lil’ Decatur has become.

    Deal nearby: Skip’s Hot Dogs

    Blue Tarp’s Facebook page says…

    OUR 1ST TOUR/TASTING – AUG. 24 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm. $10 for glassware and 5 six oz. tastings.

Tasting room nearing completion as well as our 2250 sq ft. outdoor Beer Garden (Hops are too short for any help with the sun this year – shades recommended!).

We are located at 731 E College Ave. in the same building as the Sweat Box and across from Rabern-Nash Carpet in the far Eastern end of East Decatur Station.

good grief – this was an auto repair shop for 40 years and one has to wonder about preparing a food source in such a facility??? Unfortunately, the health department does not monitor this type of establishment – i.e., safety of a food (yes, drink) source. It is the beverage folks who simply don’t care about public health but only liquor licenses. Would you drink something prepared in a facility with environmental issues? NOT I

So you’ve got inside knowledge that the space is toxic, that the brewery owners know about it and don’t care, and that the beer is being contaminated?

Would love to see the evidence.

By the way, the space you’re referring to is the tasting room, not where the beer is brewed, so how’s that work?

This is a really good point. It’s probably the reason why absolutely nobody goes to U-Joint, Taqueria del Sol or Leon’s. When will people learn?!?

I hope, A R, that you jest. (I have proven myself terrible at detecting sarcasm on this site – some of you clearly have it figured out and are far superior to me, can you share your secrets? but I digress). Anyway, A R. You can’t be serious? J_T makes a great point. If we didn’t have old gas stations, etc. in Atlanta to convert to restaurants (where food is prepared, right?) then where would we eat?

To quote the great John McEnroe, “you cannot be serious. YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!”

Obviously written by someone from 3 Taverns. Bravo, sir. That has to be the best trolling I’ve read here.

Pft. They’re ones to talk. They’re in a former playhouse. The place used to be rife with — shudder — ACTORS. Have you ever smelled those people? Flop sweat is a confirmed biohazard.

Please tell me you are joking. Yeah, you’re joking. Ha! Funny. You are funny. Good job.

Actually my sister will not eat in any restaurant that was formerly a gas station or repair shop. Maybe there is no problem with toxins but she doesn’t care. Also applies to any place with reported rats.

        Are your sister’s initials “A.R.”?

But she probably has no problem drinking coffee while filling up her car with gas. From a chemical standpoint, “fresh” gasoline is much more toxic than the old stuff.

Actually neither of us will eat food from a gas station. Roller food. Yuck. Not saying it’s logical but there it is.

Some here (okay, probably only one) might argue that the new business will be the creator of toxins.

I, for one, will happily volunteer to assist in cleaning those toxins. I have an organic filtering process to safely filter those toxins. The process breaks down the toxins into a salt water suspension, noisy CO2 emissions and the occasional inappropriate comment.

Does anyone know if this is an open house format? In other words, if you can’t be there for the full four hours is that still ok?

Does anyone know if we had to buy the tickets on scoutmob? Or can we show up with $10 in hand?

Their Facebook post doesn’t say anything about SM (I don’t think) so I’m assuming you can just show up. That’s my plan, anyways.
