There’s something about this location that attracts bright pastel colors evidently! Or maybe this is the Easter theme and there will be red, white, and blue chairs for the Fourth of July.
Does this mean HOLA is opening soon? Or is this a special event? Or are we trying to lure the Wells Fargo robber crowd over here with free patio furniture?
Fun Fact, recently learned from a Puerto Rican, as to why cultures in the Caribbean/Mexican climate zone are such fans of bright colors: Apparently it has to do with the excessive sun which, historically, would wash out all the color in paints and dyed fabrics. If you started with a pastel, it’d be bleached out in no time so the brighter, the better became the cultural m.o.
I can’t help it. I get a big smile on my face with every “yuck!” and “they destroyed it!” and “I’ll never eat there!” I love the colors and I’ll be hoping the food is good so we can patronize them.
This is SO not Decatur. Did the Leon’s people approve having these bright and tacky colors so close by? I am horrified and I really hope there is something we can do about this.
But if we fail to demand a pleasant palette of earth tones now, we’ll never transcend this temporary realm of painful aesthetics enforcement for the ultimate nirvana of universal blandness.
The colors are bright and cheerful and it is an improvement on the what was there previously. Perhaps the food will be good too and that’s the most important thing.
Apparently my palette and sometimes wallet doesnt allow me to frequent some of the better establishments in Decatur. Im sorry with my allergies I prefer my pollen on my azealas, not on my food. Decatur needs a breadth of restaurants not just ones that sell $15 cocktails. Nothing against them, but to stay vibrant and diverse you need retail/restaurants to fit all levels. Holla Hola!
I’m just saying that the whitewash and planters got me excited for a nice corner cantina, now between the sign and the furniture it feels more like, as someone above said, spring break in Cancun. If the food is good, none of this will matter of course and it will just be the place with the pastel chairs. I’m just remembering the Diner around the time that the faux marble went up and everyone said “yeah, but the food will be good…” and it was not. Fingers crossed because I love good Mexican food. #CrayHola Cafe
I think the sign and the furniture (which coordinate, if ya hadn’t noticed) are great (but the planters are my favorite part). And I say this as one of the unapologetic Decatur Diner decor haters. It’s fun, and I get the thought process behind it. Lighten up, people.
It’s a restaurant in Decatur. Whatever it looks like, there’s a good chance a bunch of kindergartners will be doing arts and crafts. Or throwing tantrums. Or running unsupervised through the dining room and kitchen.

I saw “now hiring” signs in their windows this morning.
I agree…Better chain down those tables and chairs!!
I’m not interested in stealing them, but I might covertly shift them all around so that the blue chairs are at one table and the yellow at another.
Please do not creepy crawly the local establishments.
I like their planter boxes surrounding the patio.
That sign makes me happy every time I pass by.
…and then what had once looked so promising was destroyed by a shipment of outdoor seating from Chuck E. Cheese.
Table for one in the curmudgeon section, please.
The word “destroyed” describes things perfectly. Not a chance that I’ll eat there now given that furniture.

Anyone ever hear this before?
Needs parrots.
This would be the perfect the decor if it was spring break in Cancun, named Senor Frogs, and was packed with a bunch of drunk college kids.
I love it.
I love it more! :0)
It would have been really cool if they could have gotten chairs in the same 5 colors as the sign.
I think it looks awesome. And I can’t wait to spend my Friday afternoons sipping margaritas while my new assistant fields phone calls.
I think it looks awesome, however, I think it would be even better if they kept the faux marble.
Agree. it would have matched the chairs.
That there is no exclamation point starting that sentence makes me concerned for the authenticity of this establishment.
Agreed. It is driving my children nuts.
Yes!
¡Sí !
That drives me nuts too. If you want to be a totally authentic restaurant then invert an exclamation point.
This! It’s absolutely driving me crazy.
I am a fan of the brightly colored chairs and like that they mixed up. Looking forward to having a margarita on that patio.
Hah! So it’s actually going to be the Cray-Hola Cafe.
(Yes, yes, I know…groanworthy in the extreme. Let the flaming begin!)
You cray cray!
Brilliant pun!!

+1
If their food is good, I do not care what color the chairs are.
If it is bad, I will be endlessly upset by them.
I like the orange a lot.
Welcome to Decatur, there’s a grouch for that!

Brought to you by the letters H, O, L and A!

Loving the bright colors too! Cute and fresh!
They certainly are getting a lot of free buzz. Now, if they don’t open for another year, that will get us talking.
Looks like a bunch of kindergarteners are about to do some arts and crafts.
