Cat Missing Around Scott Boulevard and Clairemont Avenue

    Decatur Metro | October 22, 2012

New Scott sends in this alert…

We live in the Brownstones at Decatur near the intersection of Scott and Clairemont – We believe our new cat somehow got outside and we are missing her dearly. Her name is Hannah. She is very sweet and playful but must be terribly frightened now. We’ve only had her for 2 weeks and haven’t had time to get her a collar or nametag, however she is micro chipped. If you happen to see her, or know of someone that may have seen her, please call me at 404-228-6092. Thank you so much!

She may be headed to her last home. Put out some articles of clothing heavily worn, so they smell of you.

Yes, I have heard recently that setting an old pair of shoes outside the door may attract her back to your home.

We found her! Many thanks to the folks who called with tips and MANY thanks to the boy who accidentally scared her back towards our place. We found her about 50 yards away. She ate a can of food and drank a LOT of water and now seems totally fine. Thanks very much, DM, for posting this. It’s very much appreciated!

It is so good that your beautiful kitty made it back home. It is wonderful that we have the resource of Decatur Metro to help us when are pets go missing!

Totally agree. I felt a little funny about asking to put this on DM, just because it could seem trivial to some, given the weight of a lot of the topics on here. But then, I decided that I didn’t care about that, I wanted our cat back and I wanted to exhaust every possible option. (By the way, color copies cost over 50 cents each!) The great people of the DM community came through, as usual. I don’t know how many times I’ve said how happy I am to be living here, but I’m saying it again.

I’ll admit, I thought it was trivial. I mean, it’s only a cat ;-) Woof!

Glad you found her before the coyotes did, though! On a serious note, especially for you northsiders, those coyotes seem to be active lately. Haven’t sighted any but the dogs have been acting a little spooked and territorial like they do when they are around. Keep an eye on your smaller dogs and your kitties!

Coyote’s woke me up at 4:50 this morning. (near YMCA on C’mont) Sounded like 2 or 3 were right behind my house. Perhaps they were after one of the rabbits I’ve been seeing lately.

Also, I saw 2 coyotes on the PATH in Avondale last week. Seriously, keep your pets under close supervision please.

Unless your pet is a mature male alligator.

Glad she’s safe at home again. Please find the time to get her fitted out with a collar and tag.

Best idea would be to keep her inside, especially at night. There are owls and hawks in the Scott/Clairmont neighborhood. I have always had outdoor/indoor cats in the past; now I confine my cat to indoors only and he seems perfectly happy with all the window perches available and my daily attentions.
