Parakeet Found on Willow Lane
Decatur Metro | August 11, 2012Kim writes in…
We are hoping you’ll be able to help us reunite this parakeet with its family. This sweet little bird was found on Willow Lane (between Scott and Church) early Friday morning. It is our understanding that since its wings have not been clipped, there is a good chance that it is not from our neighborhood. Thanks to helpful neighbors, we currently have it housed in a cage and out of the reach of our cats. J

So sweet
No one has asked so I have to. How did you manage to capture the bird?
Imagine two women, a fish tank net, a cat crate, and a dog that was interested in the bird for its own reasons!
OK, I imagined this, but in a much more salacious way.
If you don’t find the owner, we will foster it! We’re in the market for a parakeet and would love to foster one.
I’ve had parakeets for years, would love to take this little one in if the owner cannot be found!
Kim, Here’s a suggestion: you can try calling the Avian and exotic pet vet called “For Pet’s Sake” which is nearby on North Druid Hills. Maybe they know of a lost-found list that you can post on. I bet it’s so rare that someone actually finds–and catches!–a pet bird so it would be so wonderful if it could be reunited with its owner. Pet’s Sake phone number: 404-248-8977.
Sarah, Thanks for the suggestion. I did call ” For Pet’s Sake”, but no one has contacted them. Tiptoe and Leigh , thank you for your generous offers to care for this bird, but a neighbor, who has had parakeets in the past and who has fallen in love with our sweet bird, has already asked if she could care for him. Thank you DM for posting this and thank you to all those who have tried to help reunite this bird with his family.
