“Keep It Indie-Catur” Wins Local Slogan Contest

    Decatur Metro | June 18, 2012

The Decatur Minute reports that Dave and Talia Blanchard, owners of the Brick Store Pub, Leon’s, Squash Blossom, and the soon to be Sq/Ft shoe store have won the local slogan contest that the city had recently to encourage visitors and locals alike to shop, dine and support the city’s local businesses.

According to the Minute, you’ll begin seeing the slogan around town soon, from signs to t-shirts.

I like it. Very colorful and clever.

I like it…somewhat? In high-res and dropping the “spend your money….” tagline, I think it’s a winner. Less busy and more direct.

I like the concept a lot. But I think this particular rendition is busy. When a graphic is too busy, folks get distracted and don’t read all of it. So that defeats the purpose of that busy-ness. I would drop the chevrons, hearts, and dashed downward arrow. Then I think folks would read the text. And/or I would drop the whole third line of text. I think the point is made well enough with the message of Keep It Indie-Decatur.

Totally agree with At Home in Decatur. I really like the message and the play on words, but this design looks so much busier than the ones we saw a few weeks ago. All of At Home’s suggestions are spot-on.
