Fab’rik’ and West Egg “Jewish Deli” Coming to Emory Point

Decatur Metro | May 18, 2012

Another Emory Point press release update….

Cousins Properties Incorporated has signed four new retailers, including three locally-owned women’s boutiques and a new restaurant concept from the popular Westside Atlanta eatery, West Egg Café, at Emory Point. The more than $100 million mixed-use project – a partnership between Cousins, Gables Residential and Emory University – is now 80 percent committed as the fall opening approaches.

…Already established retailers throughout the Atlanta community, the three women’s boutiques – fab’rik’, Lizard Thicket and American Threads – offer the latest in exclusive fashions and designs, young contemporary, affordable styles and indie and vintage clothing and accessories.

West Egg Café’s latest concept, The General Muir, is a Jewish-style deli that will serve traditional deli classics and innovative takes on Jewish dishes. The full-service restaurant – serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch – will include a bar, coffee shop and pastry counter.

And for all you all looking for “good bagels”, this description of The General Muir from this release might be interesting to you…

The General Muir will serve traditional deli classics, such as pastrami and corned beef, chopped liver, smoked fish, and hand-rolled kettle-boiled bagels, as well as innovative takes on traditional dishes.

The Math of Cities

Decatur Metro | May 18, 2012

There are a lot of casual relationships within our cities that allow us the joy of endlessly unresolved conversations about any number of issues or trends.

But here’s a great little talk by physicist Geoffrey West at TED last year about some mathematical constants embedded within ourselves and city life.  Fascinating stuff and some great foundational rules you can carry around with you the next time to come upon a difficult urban debate.
