Victory Sandwich Bar Taking Over Karma Boutique/Johnny’s Pizza Building

    Decatur Metro | March 26, 2012

Spurred by a tweet by Blissful Glutton, Michael noticed that Victory Sandwich Bar has a “coming soon” address on its contact page of 340 Church Street.  The rumor has been floating around for at least a couple months, but this is the first “official” confirmation that I have seen regarding the future of the old Karma Boutique/Johnny’s Pizza (aka Rocket 88) space.   The rumor has long been that Victory was taking over the entire building.

Victory’s flagship location is located in Inman Park.

If true, this almost makes up for the Hankook rumor not panning out. Come to think of, this may more than make up for it. Hankook does not have Jack and Coke slushies!

Now, if someone would just take this sweet old foster dog off of our hands before they open so I can actually go enjoy a Weed Eater and a Mean Bean salad…

        Jack and Coke slushies?
Abomination or masterpiece? If this comes to pass, JunderscoreT must take me and Cuba there for a try out

You got it! Even if I am a little scared of you and Cuba drinking whiskey…

As well you should be, Junderscore…as well you should be.

This will be awesome! Decatur will never recover!

Forget Decatur, I’m just worried about J_T recovering!

Victory is one of my favorite places for food, beer and general hanging out in Atlanta. I hope this new Decatur location is a success for them. Their ‘Castro’ sandwich (variation on a Cuban) is addictive.

I’ve only had one sandwich from their Inman Park location and it was very good. I think they will be a great addition to the Decatur food scene -

Excited to hear this. Anxious to try them.

But the BIG question will be…does the MURAL stay or go?

It may prove to be Decatur’s first historic preservation project with universal support!

      hopefully the mural stays!

Best news ever, hope we get a ping pong table and jack and coke slushie machine too!

Menu looks fun and interesting. The Jack and Coke slushees reminded me of the port wine sno-cones Rob Campbell used to make during Summerfest, back when RJ’s Wine Bar was in business in VaHi. Next day you’d wake up surrounded by crazy art purchases and with a brutal hangover, but it was fun.

This sounds like my wife and me a few years back after the Decatur Arts Festival.

Oh, I miss RJ’s! I was in my early 20s when we went there, pretending to be sophisticated!

I miss RJs, too. Spent a lot of money there on weeknights.
Last I saw Rob he was selling wine, retail, in Asheville. He looked happy.

Yes, yes yes!! For a town square full of kids, especially in the Spring time, there isn’t one easy counter-service restaurant to grab a sandwich, sit on the patio and enjoy the day. I’m so happy and pleased that its Victory that is going to change all that!

I’m excited for this slushie if they put one in the Decatur location! I was wondering why I had never been there before and just looked at their menu. I thought there was only one veggie option but looks like thy have a lot! Yay! Another place for this vegetarian family to eat!

And at long last, a compelling successor to our dear departed 5th Earl has arrived.

Sounds like the perfect thing for that location.. Glad to have a counter service place in that area that isn’t a chain restaurant.

Another hint that Victory Sandwich Bar was coming would have been the City Commission’s approval of their alcohol license on March 19th.
