Unbelievably gorgeous weather. We watched from the other side of the parking deck, just outside the police tape, half a block east of Big Tex. Used the fireworks to help celebrate my dad’s birthday. Quite a lengthy show and delightfully loud and intense from our vantage point. Thanks, CoD!!!
Great night last night! I love this picture too – it was like Where’s Waldo – I found me, the baby, the stroller, the wagon, our friends, their kids – just have not found my husband yet.
Yes! And she was dancing until the last note of the last song. I slept well that night just thinking about it. We ended up staying for all the fireworks even with our 1-year-old who slept through the whole thing.
Agreed–gorgeous night. Fireworks went on much longer than I expected. Lots of “that MUST have been the finale” talk! Loved the ones that sizzled. . . .
As long as Token promises to wear more than just dress shoes, lederhosen are OK by me!!! (And as a fan of TSOM, I have to admit I love “Edelweiss”– a beautiful song, IMHO…)
Other than Julie Andrew’s dorky haircut, I love that movie. (And she was a NUN afterall). My Vermont contacts tell me that the Von Trapps were no where near as delightful in person as they were in the movie but that’s ok because, when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad…… (Watch out for the Lonely You-Know-What earworm!)
“My Vermont contacts tell me that the Von Trapps were no where near as delightful in person as they were in the movie…”
Aw, man– the B!tchy Von Trapps…now, that’s a reality show I might’ve actually watched! LOL! “Liesl, Liesl, LIESL! How come SHE always gets to go out with boys, and I have to babysit these BRATS? They won’t stop singing! And you’re not my REAL mother, Maria!”
The celebration really put an exclamation point on our first year back in Decatur. We missed the Virgina-Highlands and friends for a long while. Now we and the kids have new friends, we are happy with the schools, and we love our home and neighborhood.
During the concert, the older kid ran around freely and we were comfortable not seeing him for an hour at a time. That would never have happened in Midtown! The fireworks were great and we walked <1/2 mile home in minutes.
Fireworks in September are awesome! This should become a tradition.

Perfect weather, great band, fireworks…the best Saturday night in a long time.

What a great pic!!!
I hope July 4th gets rained out again next year. The fourth is much better in September.

He was probably off getting a beer or two.
– Amazing event though (band/weather/fireworks), I agree the 4th should always be celebrated at the end of September!
Perhaps we were directly behind you. I’m head down, checking for texts from friends we were trying to rendezvous with.
Yes! Your daughter must be the dancer. She made my day! We had to leave pre-fireworks to put the babe to bed.

Old favorite: The graceful “weeping willow” of long-lasting gold falls.
New favorite: Intense (almost ultraviolet) purple and shimmering gold fountain toward the end. We called it “The Mardi Gras.”
What a great night and great show. I vote we start having the fireworks in September every year.
We need an Oktoberfest/Harvest Festival like it’s nobody’s business.
Lederhosen and Eidleweiss?

What a great night.
Hey! How come I’m in moderation???
No clue. It seems to happen when people write the word Token.
Oh now that’s just mean.
Actually, that was a great dig. Well done, DM (and you too, Cuba. And I promise to always wear slacks and a nice shirt with my dress shoes).
I wasn’t digging. It just did it again! Lord, now I got spend time trying to figure out what’s going on…
Hmm. Looks like I better stop invokin’ the Token.
“The Token.” I like it. Think I might just start calling myself that.
Or change it to Tokin’
