“What to Expect When You’re Expecting” Filming in Decatur Next Week
Decatur Metro | September 24, 2011Chris Billingsley sends along a letter from the movie What to Expect When You’re Expecting’s movie’s location manager, which notifies area residents that the movie would be filming scenes at 116 East Maple Street next Wednesday and Thursday (9/28-9/29). The note sums up the movie thusly…
“The story is a romantic comedy adaptation of Heidi Murkoff’s pregnancy guideline book of the same name. The film tells the story of five couples coping with life’s unexpected trials and tribulations when they are ‘expecting’. As a native ‘Atlantan’ it brings me great please to inform you that the story is set in our beautiful city, which will be showcased on a nation scale.”
It goes on to detail truck placement and traffic flow.
IMDB shows that there’s a big ol’ cast for this movie, including Cameron Diaz, Chris Rock, Jennifer Lopez, and Elizabeth Banks.
The city states that though they are in process, they still haven’t permitted the project, according to Patch.

I work on East Maple and we received a “Notice of Filming” on the front door. The notice states the following:
“In order to complete our work in a timely manner, we have permitted with the City of Decatur to have our essential support trucks parked nearby during our short time here. Our permit is as follows:
– EAST parking lane of McDonough St. from E. Howard Ave, to E. Trinity Pl. (we will only use the lane up to school bus parking lot) (12:01AM – 11:59PM)
– EAST lane of Church St. from E. Howard Ave. to E. Trinity Pl. (12:01AM – 11:59PM)”
They also mention they will have Off-duty DPD officers on site at all times to help with traffic flow.
My expectations for “what to expect when you’re expecting” will be as low as can be expected. But I’d like to meet JLo and CamDi, maybe ChriRo and ElBan too (who is she anyway?)
Years ago, when they were filming “Driving Miss Daisy” in Druid Hills, the crew paid my father in law $200 to stop mowing his lawn so they could shoot a scene. Everyone break out your lawnmowers and leafblowers!

They’ve been filming over by the North Highland Pub the last two mornings. Apparently Jonah Hill flew in today to start filming some other movie. They definitely picked the right time of year: Chamber of Commerce weather!
