Lost Sled Needs To Find Its Way Home

Lost sled – sentimental value
My kids and about a dozen of their closest friends took my Dad’s sled out to the cemetery on Monday and managed to come home without it.
If anyone has adopted this well loved, but seemingly abandoned beauty, we’d really love to have her back. Please email me at LeeOnCandler@gmail.com.
Anyone have an extra sled in their garage?

DM, nice of you to call out this posting.
Hope the sled finds its way home!
BTW, I saw some abandoned sledding materials at the cemetery the other day — mostly trashcan lids but it may be worth a walk through there to see if the sled slid behind a headstone or tree.
I sure hope this has a happily reunited ending. DM readers, work your magic!
Rosebud….
=)
In the lake? It’s a possibility.
Did the lake ever freeze over given the several days of below freezing weather? That would have been one more winter wonder, if there had been skating on the lake!
It did freeze with the exception of smallish area for the ducks. The ice was thick enough to support the (big) dogs, but probably not enough for human skating.
I’m sure I”m suggesting the obvious, but did you check with the City/ Cemetary keeper? I really hope you find it- I know how much it hurts to lose things that connect you with someone special. Let us know if you find it.
Sledding and leaving trash in a cemetary is not only inappropriate it is wrong. I’m glad i don’t have a loved one buried there.
Leaving trash anywhere is wrong. But I walk my dog in the cemetery everyday and I see the same people there walking and jogging everyday. It’s a place where people connect as macabre as it sounds to most. At least you aren’t judgmental…
Hmmm. Interesting point. Trash is disrespectful anywhere, especially in a cemetary. People walking and biking through scenic paths/roads of a historic cemetary, which is as much landmark as active cemetary? I think that’s ok. Sledding? Was it on the roads/paths? Empty lawn? Or over the graves? I think that makes a difference.
Just FYI to Karass descendants: You may walk, run, ski, sled, hula hoop on my grave, if I have one. I draw the line on smoking, bullying, and day trading.
People sled over the graves.
Individual graves or family plots are owned by the families. They can put a stop to sledding over the graves if they want to.
I guess what bugged me about this particular post was the inappropriate part. I know this will sound absurd, but I met the last guy I dated in the cemetery. We walk our dogs there everyday at the same time everyday, can’t go into detail because I know he reads this blog, but both of his parents are buried there.
I always try to figure out where flowers have been blown away from so I can put them back, sometimes you can, not usually. Picked up plenty of scarves and mittens and hung them on posts. I really do care what goes on there. It just made it sound like a bunch of cavalier scavengers were taking over, not the case.
And I hope this man found his sled.
Lost Sled Recovered
I’ve been in and out of town over the last couple of weeks and haven’t properly thanked the Decatur Metro community and Meg Rosselot specifically for helping to find our wayward sled. I’m very proud to live among such wonderful neighbors.
Thank y’all. You rock.
