What’s Open In Decatur Today/Tonight? – Tuesday Edition
Decatur Metro | January 11, 2011I hope I won’t be creating these all week, but this seems a good use of our time during Atlanta’s 2011 snow siege. I know we went through this exercise yesterday, but circumstances change and I’m sure that some businesses open yesterday might not be open today and vice versa.
So, what businesses do you know of in the Decatur-area that are open today, Tuesday, January 11th?
Thinking Man Tavern was not open last night. Pretty surprised about that. But Oakhurst Village was hopping, though the Matador and Saba were both closed.
Was Steinbeck’s open?
Yes, but after about 6:00-6:30 it was for libations only. Steady crowds throughout the day had used up all their food.
Wahoo is closed again today, says an email blast from them.
I heard the that the diner was opening today.
Decatur Diner will open when Hell freezes over…Not Decatur.
Haha! Seriously, when is that place going to open?
Saw an item on Fox 5 news this evening about the Marietta Diner. Made a big deal of how it was open in this weather, and staff were heros, etc.
Thought it quite funny, as all I could think of was the sister Decatur Diner, and how it’s not even open in normal weather!
Is CVS open? Need to refill a prescription formy 6-month old.
It was open at 1:30 PM.
Any idea if Lil Kroger is open and how the roads are? Need milk and eggs was going to walk to Hop n Shop but figured I would ask?
Little Kroger was open yesterday and said they were staying open until 7pm. I went around 4:30. I drove up there from Talley St and Commerce on that little hill was a bit nightmarish – but going 15 mph and tapping the breaks helped. They only had one register open and I waited in line for quite some time, but everyone was patient. I imagine if they managed yesterday, they will be open today, but slow.
Open would not necessarily mean stocked. Suppliers have the same road issues as everyone else.
The little Kroger was open yesterday. We walked there. Ponce & Commerce were really icy though. Parking lot was very slippery too.
Baby Kroger opened at 7 am today and closes at 7 pm today. Lawrence was manning the sole register when I bought some food at 9 am.
How well stocked is the little kroger?
At 11:00 AM Tuesday, Lil Kroger was open, well stocked and well manned. Sidewalks are slippery as hell so be careful out there.
Little Kroger is open. Java Monkey is open. Roads are bad and people are still driving too fast while talking on cell phones.
Fabu Face Spa will be closed today. We plan to be open tomorrow, but can’t say for sure until tomorrow morning. Sorry for any inconvenience. If you have an appointment please call 404-377-6363. I’m checking messages throughout today.
The gas station at candler and memorial is open for some bits of supplies if you live walking distance from there!
Got an email from Village Vets that their emergency office is open, but the regular office is closed.
The Marlay House will not open for lunch. It is possible we will open for dinner if the flakes align for us. Update later in day.
Need eggs,bread and milk……….might not survive…………
@TaqueriadelSol just tweeted that they were open today.
@FarmBurger tweeted yesterday, but not as of yet today.
We will have something for lunch when we walk up there though! – burgers or tacos is TBD
Farm Burger appeared to be open at 1:30PM
Sweet Melissa’s is closed again today. Thumbs Up is open. Everything in Commerce Square appears closed.
Blue Elephant Book Shop is open today from 11AM-5PM.
I just called Melton’s App and Tap and they’ll be open at 11:30.
My neighbors just got back w/ a bunch of publix bags, so it looks like publix is open.
My husband just got back from East Lake Publix – he says it is pretty low on supplies though (still some milk and eggs but not a lot). The roads weren’t too bad around there at noon-ish…
Intown Ace is open.
Dancing Goats looks open; I saw someone with a Sbux cup so they must be open too.
Java Monkey & Thumbs Up are open.
Correction: everything at Commerce Square appears closed *except* CVS (not so much the drive-thru, though). Cooks Warehouse and Ruby Tuesday are closed. Thumbs Up has plenty of tables available. I’ve never seen more people walking on Marshall St in my life; seems to be the popular pedestrian corridor for folks returning from Baby Kroger.
I think “drive-thru” has a new meaning right now, since probably you wouldn’t be able to stop…
Taco Mac posted that they were open but may be on a reduced menu due to suppliers have transportation issues.
Mac McGee is open!
Steinbecks and El Matador are open in Oakhurst – Hop n Shop has some supplies as well
Decatur First Bank at the Kroger location is open today, Tuesday, January 11, 2011 until 3:00 p.m!
The Main Office location is closed today. Please call 404-373-1000 to confirm location information!
For your information – the parking lot at Kroger is a sheet of ice. Use your discretion in determining your mode of transportation! Stay safe and warm! Thanks!
Square Pub posted that it’s open again today.
Mezacalito’s in Oakhurst has posted on facebook that they will be open this evening.
Just saw on Facebook that Twain’s is open.
Correct !
fox brothers BBQ is open till 4 and flying biscuit candler park is open!
Looked like Ted’s was open when I walked past earlier.
It looked closed when I drove by about the same time, but you probably had a better look.
The Brick Store was open last night (with a good sized crowd), and according to their e-mail list they plan to be open today as well.
Some mail vehicles are out, but they may not be delivering to locations/streets that are hazardous.
OPEN: Sushi Avenue, The Square Pub, Fellini’s
Cakes and Ale is open at 6pm tonight for dinner.
Publix at Clairemont and N Decatur open. Stocked with milk and bread, but very little meat or produce. Los Loros is open. Just found out(by walking by) that the frame shop and the gift shop next door (in the Publix shopping center) are closing/have closed!! What next???
Just walked to downtown from the Parkwood neighborhood. Here’s what was open as of 2:30PM.
CVS, Taco Mac, The Marlay, Taqueria, Farm Burger, Brickstore (which is packed!!!), The Square Pub, MacMgee’s, Sushi Avenue, Thumbs Up.
The Marlay is opening at 5.30pm with basic menu and full bar. Careful voyages.
just got an email that Iberian Pig will open at 5:00 tonight.
The massive scope of this storm has just become official: Watershed has postponed fried chicken night until Thursday!
Just saw a huge Sysco truck braving EPdL. Someone’s gettting food.
City Schools of Decatur closed tomorrow too. This is getting old. I have a bad cold, work piling up, and kids who vary from ebullient to cranky. Could we perhaps use the school buildings as some kind of combination child-care, cabin fever relief, enrichment program if we parents volunteer to rotate in running it? Other people’s children always listen to me better than do my own.
I would imagine a lot of the decision to close schools has to do with the conditions of the streets and not wishing to have people out on them, so opening the schools for other reasons wouldn’t work for that reason. Otherwise, they could just have school anyway.
Completely agree that we don’t want teachers and staff who mostly live outside of Decatur having to risk the drive to school. But WE Decatur families can all walk there! Safe routes through the snow to school! Walk, sled, or ski! Of course, I’m being facetious but I would love an alternative to the kids being cooped up at home, learning being postponed, and parents getting behind in work that will have to be done eventually, probably at the expense of family time during evenings and weekends. And I imagine that at least some of these snow days will have to be made up in the school schedule….we don’t want to decrease the number of days of instruction that our tax dollars buy. I would propose that the budgets of either CSD and/or the PTAs/PTOs include salt for the bus routes to school but that won’t help the teachers and staff who live in other parts of Metro Atlanta that are clueless about how to make their roads passable.
