Greek Diner Moving Into Old Atlanta Bread Co. Space
Decatur Metro | October 11, 2009Ann at Mingei World Arts reports a “Greek Diner coming in” to the old Atlanta Bread Company location at Church and Ponce. She adds “They papered the windows and started indoor destruction on Friday.”
No other detail at this point, but the concept certainly sounds promising. Stay tuned.

That’s interesting considering that, as I was walking by late Saturday morning, I saw four people come out the door who were distinctly Asian.
did they have a moving van?
Perhaps the nice Korean couple that owns the Falafel King in Emory Village is expanding their MIddle Eastern food empire, and branching out into Mediterranean food?
sounds promising!
I hope they’re open late!
Landmark?
Yuck, I hope not.
Not a fan of Greek food in general (and the Greek diner concept — namely Landmark — is even less appetizing), but at least they’re not attempting pizza, yogurt, or beer. No other Greek joints in downtown Decatur that I can think of, so they’ll be catering to an untapped market.
Actually, now that I think about it, as a Greek restaurant, it’s quite likely they will incorporate (bad) pizza, yogurt, AND beer.
They is TEH DOOMED!
Didn’t a new Greek place open in the 125 Claremont building? Also, Athens Pizza is right down the road.
Also, Mediterranean Grill is right behind it…
Dream large! Let’s hope they are like Kyma.
I believe this would be the same ownership as this VERY BRIGHT diner located outside Sam’s Club in the former Roadhouse Café space: http://www.yelp.com/biz/mykonos-taverna-atlanta
That would be good news. I’ve heard good things about Mykonos!
There are great reviews of the food in the Greek restaurant in the 125 Clairmont building. Maybe it is moving to the Ponce location for larger space?
It is not a relocation of the place in the Town Center building according to them – I had lunch in there today.
So, we avoided the battle of the yogurt joints, but can look forward to the battle of the Greek restaurants…. I see some plate throwing on the cards!
Went to Metro Fresh across from Grady High School for the first time Monday night. It was great. Good, fresh, healthy food that’s as quick as a fast food place, just without a drive thru window. I would think that something similar would work fantastic in Decatur. I mentioned that to the person behind the counter and he hinted that they might be doing something soon in Decatur but “a different concept”. Wonder what that might be and where!
A stop-work order was posted on the front door when I passed by yesterday morning (10-15). Apparently, workers had not obtained necessary permits.
