    Storm Snaps

    Decatur Metro | April 13, 2009 | 2:20 pm

South Candler Street - Courtesy of The Champion

The Champion has posted some pics of trees down in and around Decatur.  The tree above is across Candler just south of Agnes Scott.

Click here to see the full series.  The first five pics are from Stone Mountain, the sixth is the pic above, and the last 4 are on Glenn St. just off Ponce near the Avondale MARTA Station.

Feel free to add links to any other storm pics you come across.

The AJC’s pics from around Atlanta can be found here.

OK — I admit that I’m a bit sensitive about this but hey, I live on the street . . . there is no Candler Road in the City limits of the Decatur. It’s South Candler Street.

God forbid someone accuse you of living on Candler Road. What would your friends think? The horror.

Hey, I live on Candler Street, too. And you’re right, it’s ‘street’ not ‘road.’

      From decaturga.com
      South Candler Street
Called “the road to the depot” in Caroline McKinney Clarke’s The Story of Decatur, 1823-1899, it has some of the loveliest Victorian homes remaining in Decatur. The South Candler Street neighborhood and the campus of Agnes Scott College were listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, becoming Decatur’s first official historic district.
