Gas service is restored to all but one building on the Agnes Scott campus.
Really? We don’t have it back on W Benson St. We were home all night with no knock to turn on pilot lights and had only found the vague hanger on the door around 5pm. We also never got any message from AGL.
Morning #2 with no heat, hot water, or the ability to cook in our home
It’s 10:00 Friday, still no gas, no sign of workers. At 10:00 last night they were at least purging the lines of air, but no follow-up. Another screwup? The worst is that AGL has not been forthcoming at all with details. No time frames, no explanations, nothing. Their website has had the same uninformative message for two days now, in spite of promised updates. When I e-mailed them expressing my concerns, they essentially sent me a copy of the old message from the website. They create their own bad press by being unresponsive and uncaring.
No gas for me either on Feld Ave. No hot showers. =( I’m trying to be patient and understand that they have 1,000+ homes to go to…but a shower and home-cooked meal would be nice. Agh.
Some folks have said that you many not need your pilots lit if your appliances have electronic ignition (which may involve resetting the furnace). So for some, you might not need to be home in order for service to be restored?
I live on E Benson and the guys came into my house at 11:20 last night. It seemed they were only knocking on doors if you have all the lights on, as we did.
Lucky me I guess….although I am exhausted. Me don’t usually stay up that late or my grammar great slows down.
On East Lake Dr, I don’t have service. This is Day Two. I left my lights and TV on all night to give the impression that someone was at home.
Service restored on 3rd Avenue in Oakhurst at 10PM last night.
Yes, service restored to Third Ave and Maxwell last night around 9:30pm. We boiled water in coffee pots, slow cookers, rice cookers and the microwave – have to do what you can to survive!!!
It did seem a little random – We flagged them down last night at 11:59. They were super nice but admitted to be quite tired! The person who came to our house did seem to imply that they were targeting houses where it looked like someone was awake.
Hmmmm… Adams Street – not a thing.. anyone else on Adams have gas?… I mean natural gas flowing from Atlanta Gas Light that is.
Hey Everybody… Guess What???? I’ve got GAS!
Say excuse me.
Still waiting on Adams. Any sightings?
Gas has not been turned on yet on S. McDonough St., despite numerous calls to Atlanta Gas Light.
College Avenue, boooyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
I was not home when they came to turn on the gas. I have been on hold now for 1 hr 10 mins trying to schedule someone to come this evening. Anyone else have ridiculously long wait times? It would be great if there was a spot on their website to enter your address and be added to a list rather than have everyone with a day job call at 5pm.
I called at 12:40. Still waiting. One field rep who was allegedly on his way (he called–I had asked for a call in case they tried to come during school pick-up) was startled to hear back from me at 5. He had been called off for a leak call. His recommendation was to stand in the street in hopes of flagging down a truck. A phone rep, who came on after a 35 minute wait said someone was en route to my house at that time. That was 25 minutes ago. Who knows.
I live on S. McDonough. Around 4:30 today I just flagged down someone who was kind enough to turn on my gas. All it took was a basic wrench and 1/4 turn. I could have done that myself.. ….YESTERDAY. I sent him on his way and lighted my pilots lights myself.
On our way back from dinner at Wahoo we saw an AGL truck at corner of Feld and W. College. We flagged them down, they followed us to our house a little further down on W. College and got us back in business. 8pm. We had 2 hang tags on the door, had missed them twice today. We were not going to miss them again!
I noticed last night there were still numerous AGL trucks wandering around Oakhurst, so I’m guessing it’s been a challenging process getting gas fully restored. Hopefully by now this frustrating chapter has really, truly come to a close.
I got gas back in my house on Friday night, but tonight (Sunday around 9pm), there was an AGL truck on my street — seems like they’re still working.
No gas yet for me on Adams. The trucks go by and then leave. It would be so helpful to know if there’s a plan. Someone has to be last, and that’s OK, but it would be so easy for AGL to give out a little information.
