Google Maps Incorporates MARTA
Decatur Metro | July 22, 2008
Don’t use Google Maps for directions because you don’t have a car? Well, that’s all changed!
Ryan points out that Google Maps now offers directions that can include public transit options at your request.
After asking for directions between any two points, just click the “Public Transit” option to the upper left.
Typing in zip codes for Decatur and downtown Atlanta, Google tells me how many minutes it takes to walk to the station, gives the departure times for 3 upcoming MARTA trains, the number and arrival time of the bus I need to hop after getting off the train, and finally the final walking time to my destination!
Another great Google innovation! Did MARTA just get a little easier?
(And yes, I know MARTA has a similar feature on their website, but trust me…they don’t compare)

I never would have noticed this without this post. Life just got easier!:) Thanks
OLD NEWS!!!
Google has had this for months!!
Sounds cool! I’m going to try it in Boston next weekend!
Yeah, I’ve used this quite a bit on my handheld since they introduced it earlier this year. It definitely does work sMARTA than the actual transit site, which isn’t the least bit helpful on mobile devices. It does not include CCTMA, however.
Hey…old news…new news…I’m not picky.
Now, lets just improve public transportation in the Metropolitan Atlanta Region where this will do some good.
This is all well and good and would be great if it worked. However it is not available in the Metro Los Angeles area.
