« Le Chant des forêts » de Vincent Munier a dépassé le million d’entrées au cinéma

It has been a decade since a documentary achieved this milestone. The film “The Song of the Forests”, directed by photographer Vincent Munier, recently surpassed one million admissions in French cinemas. Released on December 17th, this documentary is on track to possibly break the record set by Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent’s Tomorrow, which also drew over one million viewers in 2015 within five months.

Having been nominated for two César awards, for best documentary and best sound, this feature film takes place in the heart of the Vosges forests. It is here that the photographer—renowned for his tracking of the snow leopard in Tibetan regions—conducted his initial wildlife observations. This knowledge, inherited from his father Michel, is now being passed down by the director to his own son, Simon.

The film presents mesmerizing visuals as it follows deer, lynxes, and the fluttering of a mythical bird: the capercaillie. In December, Vincent Munier told Decatur Metro that he did not want “to preach to the converted, but to widen the circle of those attentive to life”. It appears he has succeeded.
