The Spotted Trotter Opening Storefront in Kirkwood

    Decatur Metro | April 18, 2011

First introduced at Sawicki’s in Decatur last summer, “The Spotted Trotter” charcuterie is dailing it up a notch and opening a storefront in Kirkwood later this Spring, according to What Now, Atlanta?.

The delicatessen will offer processed meats and retail from a 1,334-square-foot storefront at 1610 Hosea L. Williams Drive in Kirkwood, according to a permit filed with the City of Atlanta in March.

Kevin Ouzts (”Oots”), chef and owner, confirms the now shuttered Corner Market located in the Kirkwood Park shopping center will be home to The Spotted Trotter.

DM profiled Ouzts last June when he first started selling his charcuterie at Sawicki’s.

    Bad Guy Semantics

    Decatur Metro | December 17, 2008

    DM EXCLUSIVE!

Andisheh did a little leg work for us Decaturites…

I just got off the phone with Decatur Police Captain Hipple.

The duo responsible for the ruckus at Kaleidoscope and Sawicki’s on Saturday have not been arrested.

Hipple also made an important point that bears repeating – although Decatur Police are taking the incident very seriously and are working to catch the suspects, what happened Saturday was not a robbery.

The suspects are alleged to have grabbed a cash box and accessed restricted areas of the shops. That’s theft, and possibly burglary (for going into a restricted area), he says, but not robbery.

Good thing I termed them “theives” in the previous post!  Wouldn’t want to upset any thugs!

    Sawicki's Thanksgiving Menu

    Decatur Metro | October 22, 2008

Sawicki’s just posted their Thanksgiving menu online and I gotta say, it looks mighty tasty!

You can order a Fresh Ashley Farms Turkey (cooked or uncooked) straight through the store along with an array of Sawicki’s awesome sides. What kinda sides you ask?  Well….like Sweet Potato Puree, Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Cassarole with Crispy Onions, Roasted Root Vegetables, Apple Cranberry Cornbread Stuffing, Turkey Gravy, Cranberry Relish and Pull-Apart Rolls.

For dessert, Sawicki’s offers an Hierloom Pumpkin Pie, a North Georgia Apple Pie, and a Georgia Pecan Pie.

All can be ordered separately (see a list of prices here) or for $185 you can get a “dinner for 6″ which includes a turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean cassarole or roasted root vegetables, cornbread stuffing, rolls and your choice of pie.

Tell me that doesn’t sound awesome?
