Decatur Christmas Tree Recycling Starts Next Monday

    Decatur Metro | December 26, 2009 | 11:41 am

    Answering CSD Mom’s question…

Decatur’s well-known Christmas tree recycling event, “Bring One to the Chipper”, begins next Monday, December 28th and runs through January 2nd.

Where is this great graveyard of trees?  From the city’s website…

Residents can drop off live Christmas trees at the Christmas Tree Recycling Center in the Agnes Scott parking lot. The entrance is between 184 and 206 S. Candler St.

The entrance is a bit hidden, so unless there are more prominent signs this year, don’t be surprised if you have to do a couple u-turns before you find it.

“Bring One to the Chipper” is unaffiliated with Chipper Jones and the Atlanta Braves.

First Christian Christmas Trees Now On Sale

    Decatur Metro | December 1, 2008 | 4:03 pm

Cathy writes in and lets us know that the First Christian Church of Decatur’s Frazier Fir Christmas trees are now on sale!  Click here for prices and details.

My wife saw the trees being arranged on the lawn yesterday (fresh from North Carolina according to Cathy), but I wasn’t quite sure when they officially went “on sale”.

So if your looking for a live tree this year, stop by First Christian!  Or just go online and order…they offer free delivery within a 5 mile radius.

Come Early to Winnona Park Elementary Tree Sale

    Decatur Metro | November 29, 2007 | 1:15 pm

If you want to buy a Christmas tree from Winnona Park Elementary this Saturday, Dec. 1st, you’ll have to set your alarm clock. The lot opens at 9am and the school’s website warns “Come early in the morning to purchase your holiday tree. There are a limited number so get here early!

The city of Decatur’s events list has this description…

Winnona Park Elementary School will host its annual Christmas Tree Sale in the school parking lot. The trees, fresh Frasier firs, will be delivered on the day of the sale from Banner Elk, North Carolina. Prices range from $55 for a seven-foot tree, $65 for an eight-foot tree, and $75 for a nine-foot tree. A portion of your purchase is tax deductible. Trees are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact Leah Vaughan, 404-377-7578. [hattip: InDecatur]

I can barely get up that early on the weekend, let alone get in the car and be somewhere at that time.  Any suggestions on other school tree sales around Decatur?
