Decatur Christmas Tree Recycling Starts Next Monday

    Decatur Metro | December 26, 2009 | 11:41 am

    Answering CSD Mom’s question…

Decatur’s well-known Christmas tree recycling event, “Bring One to the Chipper”, begins next Monday, December 28th and runs through January 2nd.

Where is this great graveyard of trees?  From the city’s website…

Residents can drop off live Christmas trees at the Christmas Tree Recycling Center in the Agnes Scott parking lot. The entrance is between 184 and 206 S. Candler St.

The entrance is a bit hidden, so unless there are more prominent signs this year, don’t be surprised if you have to do a couple u-turns before you find it.

“Bring One to the Chipper” is unaffiliated with Chipper Jones and the Atlanta Braves.

The cutoff date seems a little early this year – the season of Epiphany (12 days of Christmas) will not be over for liturgical folks who leave their tree up. I wonder what options there are for later chipping?

Maybe Home Depot on Lawrenceville Hwy. I also want to know. We leave our decorations up as late as possible because the kids enjoy them so much.

Would also be interested in other options – we usually take our tree down on the sixth.

We’re also looking for a later option – we like to leave our tree up until the Feast of Epiphany on Jan 6th.

Local Home Depots are accepting trees for recycling through Saturday January 10.
      Happy New Year!
