In the previous year, our focus was on technology, but this year, we shifted our attention to wellness, discovering that these two areas are more interconnected than one might initially believe. The essence of human functionality relies on electrical and neural mechanisms operating within what can be likened to an organic framework. During NeoCon 2025, Design Milk introduced the Designer Wellness Lounge at SANDOW’s DesignScene, located on the 11th floor of The Mart. This space was designed to be a sensory haven that also demonstrated how design could enhance well-being in the workplace. The concepts of wellness, sustainability, and biophilia are now deemed fundamental in the future of design, with neuroaesthetics also gaining prominence.
The team at Design Milk utilized extensive feedback from industry experts and exhibitors, combined with our own experiences at trade shows, to create an optimal sanctuary for professionals visiting the venue. Aimed at rejuvenating its guests, the lounge provided a place for attendees to pause, recharge, and contemplate their experiences at NeoCon. The lounge itself was carefully arranged to offer a multi-sensory experience that would instinctively support our mission through eliciting deep emotional responses.

The lounge was meticulously designed to engage all five senses, incorporating wellness-oriented details into every aspect of this intimate commercial space. As visitors approached, they were drawn to the radiant, jewel-like ambiance of our space, illuminated by SkyView lighting solutions. These included the SkyView 2 and SkyView 2 Pro table lamps, along with the SkyView 2 Pendant Pro, which mimicked the natural warmth and rhythm of sunlight that is often missing indoors. The changing light hues added a dynamic element to the otherwise static environment.
Upon entry, visitors were welcomed by a delicate room fragrance of lavender, emitted by a MUJI Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser. This was complemented by ambient soundscapes created by Sonocea through their Sonic Augmentation Technology, played from a Sonos Move 2 Portable Smart Speaker, enhancing the aromatherapy experience and providing a respite from the surrounding noise. For those needing a tactile distraction, a miniature zen garden and various tabletop accessories were available, providing an alternative to electronic screens. The décor, including artwork and surface patterns, was curated to appeal to diverse preferences and offer a visually restful environment for every visitor.
Comfortable seating provided by Keilhauer not only offered a place for relaxation but also visually defined the lounge area. Guests had the option of socializing around a communal, circular banquet or selecting a more secluded seat for private contemplation. The use of contemporary, geometric textiles such as Sonia Graphite Knit Throw Pillow Covers and Sonia Graphite Knit Throw Blankets from Unison Home further enhanced the cozy atmosphere. Additionally, Native Union charging stations equipped with Anchor Charging Cables ensured that visitors’ devices remained charged as they themselves took time to unwind.
For hydration, a hot tea bar featuring Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Kettles allowed guests to slow down and engage in the deliberate, mindful act of preparing a hot beverage. Next to the beverage station, a green installation by Garden on the Wall brought elements of the outdoors inside, helping to maintain a connection with nature amidst the hectic showroom schedules.
Collaborating with beloved “Design Milk Approved” brands was a rewarding experience for our editorial team as we brought our evolving concept to life through this creative partnership. Moreover, it underscored the practical benefits of integrating wellness-focused elements into commercial spaces, providing designers with actionable ideas. The industry abounds with small but impactful opportunities to meet basic human needs, and our Designer Wellness Lounge serves as a testament to this potential.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our “Design Milk Approved” brands, including SkyView, Sonocea, Fellow, Unison Home, Sonos, Native Union, MUJI, Keilhauer, and Garden on the Wall!
