Within the space, a prominent skylight captures and directs a focused stream of light, illuminating the interior. This light enhances the gentle glow of spherical lights on the walls, adding a subtle warmth to the deep burgundy tones that saturate the room. This rich color is echoed in the furnishings, from wall treatments to the upholstered booths and chairs, infusing the environment with a sense of luxurious depth.

Above the bar, wine glasses are neatly stored in racks set against a built-in cabinet, which cleverly adds an illusion of grandeur to the compact space. Cornila’s commitment to exploring the interplay of different volumes is evident throughout her design, showcasing her deep understanding of spatial dynamics.
Transparency in the Culinary Process
The kitchen area is deliberately exposed, allowing guests to engage with the culinary process, enhancing the transparency and inclusivity of the dining experience. This layout demystifies the preparation process and integrates it into the dining experience, fostering a deeper connection between the kitchen staff and diners. Cornila states, “Every aspect of Tabra, from tactile interactions to the carefully chosen textures and varying atmospheres, is intended to stimulate the senses. It’s a tribute to historical reverence, modern elegance, and the celebration of communal joy.”
Textural and Historical Echoes
The design elements also nod to Art Deco influences, reflecting the original purpose of the space as a residential area. The upholstery in particular adds a tactile depth, enhancing the experience of moving through the space. Although the original architectural elements could not be preserved, the newly introduced golden archways serve as a tribute to the rich historical narrative of the building, promising to add to its legacy for years to come.
