Good news for rail riders, as summarized by the AJC…

…on the Blue and Green Lines, which run to Hamilton E. Holmes and Bankhead Stations, respectively, rush-hour service would be every 10 minutes instead of 15. And where the lines share tracks, from Ashby east to Candler Park Station, trains would run every 5 minutes during those times.Midday service on weekdays will be every 12 minutes on each of the lines, and six minutes on the trunk where the Red/Gold and Blue/Green lines merge.

Similar increases are also planned for MARTA’s north/south rail lines.  Check out the AJC’s full article for details.

A great new book, “Hiking Atlanta’s Hidden Forests“, got me thinking about known and unknown hiking trails around Atlanta.  The book includes 20 hikes inside the perimeter – including ones around Decatur Cemetery/Glenlake Park and Deepdene/Frazer Forest – and 40 beyond I-285.

Decatur High School Earth Day Celebration

• When: April 19th 5pm- 7pm
• Where: DHS garden
• Who: DHS Garden Club, all money raised will support the student’s garden club.
• What: Come out to the DHS Garden for an Earth Day celebration! The evening will include live performances by Decatur students and food provided by no. 246. Help the DHS garden club maintain an environment for native plants and wildlife.

Cash donations to the garden accepted.

In case of rain: We will provide tents or a dry alternative.

The DHS Garden Club is a student-led effort that planted and maintained a pollinator garden honored by the National Wildlife Federation, EcoAddendum and Trees Atlanta.
