Revolution Doughnuts posted they are open from 8a-4p.
Thanks to a hardy neighbor, Winnona Park Stud is enjoying a Revolution cinnamon-sugar doughnut right now with a cup of coffee – a nice treat after enduring a horrible evening – had to stay at home with the family, and due to the impassable roads, ended up having to spend the night here.
Little Shop posted they are closed today.
Taco Mac twittered that they are closed for lunch.

CVS is still closed.
Anyone know if Steinbeck’s or any places in Oakhurst VIllage will be open?
Oakhurst Market & Kavarna open now! Universal Joint will be open, and most likely Steinbecks later this afternoon.

Imperial is open at 1 pm. I’m thinking that Steinbecks and U Joint will open. Dress warm, if it’s anything like Snowpocalypse 2011 the whole village will be packed, and many folks will be hanging out on the patios while the kids run around in the snow.
So long as you stick to the crunchy stuff and clear of the shiny, walkability conditions are pretty good out there. Revolution Doughnuts had a bit of a toddler-rush this morning in the 8am hour.

Beer Growler Nation in Oak Grove is open until 6 (or “until safe”).
New Orleans Snoball Cafe is closed. The owner kindly called me back and saved some middle schoolers from a pointless trek.

This is a long shot, but any ideas for places that might still have sleds for sale?
Dunno if they have them but Ace on College looks to be open. You could call.
Another idea: If where you live is anything like our street, every other front lawn has several colorful plastic sliding devices scattered on their front lawn. Pick one, ring doorbell, and ask if you can borrow it for a little while.
Plastic sleds/flying saucers are always scarce when it snows. I highly recommend investing in one when it’s not snowing and stowing it in garage for that rare snow day. The three years worth of storage is worth it for that rare, unexpected Snowpocalyse day.
^^At home in Decatur – I bought two of these “Plastic sleds/flying saucers” at Ace after the last Snowpocalyse and have been storing them in our shed since then. Brought them out yesterday and I have not seen either of these devices or my two kids all day today. Best purchase ever!

That’s an idiotic decision. Sure, let’s open just as the sun sets and anything that melted turns to ice. Then, let’s have those customers walk home after drinking a few beers on said ice. Sounds like a great idea!
So no establishment should serve alcohol when weather conditions are dicey?
They can serve alcohol. No problems there. But what I don’t understand is why, after being closed all day, would you open at 5 pm just as everything is starting to re-ice?
OK, but “idiotic” is a strong condemnation if it only applies to those who open at 5p but not to those who have been open all-day and will also be serving this evening. Ya know?
We will have to agree to disagree. I will rescind idiotic, but not the belief that it is not a good decision. Seems like an unnecessary move that could put residents and employees in a similar if not worse situation than last night.
Actually, it would be folks failing to weigh conditions against their own circumstances that would put them in a bad situation. Not Leon’s opening.
Actually, they could prevent folks from even having to make that decision by not opening. By the way, this is not an attack on Leon’s. I like that place. I just don’t see why any establishment that has been closed all day would reopen given the conditions.
Money, both for the establishment and the waitstaff. However, the establishment can solve the problem of the waitstaff not making money by offering snowpay… the establishment could take the hit.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think Leon’s is hurting for business. Packed all the time.
Let’s see. Maybe because that’s the earliest they could open because their staff had trouble getting there? They are a business trying to serve their customers
At what cost? How much will they really make tonight? Is it worth opening if it is 20 something degrees outside and nothing has melted all day? Raging Burrito is closing at 4:30 pm. My guess is that they are doing so for those reasons.

Decatur Farmers Market (from yesterday) : DECATUR FARMERS MARKET will be canceled tomorrow due to the unsafe road conditions both tomorrow morning and evening, as well as consistent temperatures below freezing throughout the day tomorrow.
