Books Again Planning to Close Brick-and-Mortar By Year End

Decatur Metro | October 25, 2013

Books Again owner Jim Adams sent out this announcement…

Dear Fellow Book Lovers,

After 13 years of selling lots of books and making even more friends, I have decided to make Books Again an online-only shop. The brick-and-mortar store will be closed by the end of 2013 or before, depending on how quickly the inventory and the fixtures are sold.

To that end, starting Saturday, October 26th, I will begin selling our stock
at 50% off and will keep the store open 7 days a week for your shopping convenience. I will also send you emails about the progressively increasing discounts towards the end of the sale.

I personally want to thank all of my loyal customers who supported Books Again through the years and gave me a reason to get excited about coming to work every day. I hope to see every one of you during the sale so I can thank you each in person.

In summary, here is the deal:

* Sale starts SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26th. Doors open at 10AM!
* All books are 50% off (yes, even the collectibles & the few new books we have) with the exception of consignment items.
* Terms are cash, check, debit card or credit card. Cash & checks are best!
* If you are planning on using trade credit we will allow you a 20% discount.

* Extended store hours: Mon-Fri (11AM-6PM); Sat (10AM-5PM); Sun (Noon-5PM).

Thanks for the memories,

Jim Adams

Decatur Makers at Atlanta Mini Maker Faire Tomorrow

Decatur Metro | October 25, 2013

ammf2

Want to check out what the new Decatur Makers group is making?  Lew sends in this announcement…

This Saturday, the Atlanta Mini Maker Faire (makerfaireatl.com) will be held at Georgia Tech.  This is a free, family-friendly, annual gathering of makers, hackers, geeks, artists, robots, scientists, and normal folks who just enjoy hanging out with other creative people.

Decatur Makers (decaturmakers.org) will be there of course, debuting our non-newtonian liquid hopscotch.  We’ll also have flexagons to make (including the fascinating 3D ones).  In addition, you can cut a wine bottle with water, and grab a giveaway from our theramin-enhanced skeleton!  If you want to help us out, we still need some volunteers http://vols.pt/HaBmWu

The AMMF runs all day from 10-5 on Saturday October 26. Hope to see you there! Free tickets are available at http://makerfaireatl.com/attend/

Decatur Metro | October 25, 2013

From DPD’s Jennifer Ross.  Update at the top.  Recap of the burglary back in August at the bottom.

Update: On 10-21-13, an arrest was made in the August 25th burglary of a residence in the 100 block of Superior Avenue.  The suspect is a 15-year-old male from DeKalb County.

On 08/25/13 between 12:15 pm and 3:15 pm, there was a burglary in the 100 block of Superior Avenue. Entry was made by breaking a Plexiglas pane in the front door and utilizing a key left in the lock. A laptop, iPod, cell phone, purses, backpacks, jewelry boxes/chest and cash were stolen. Some of the items were recovered near the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Superior Avenue. A witness reported hearing a noise in the intersection around 2:00 pm and seeing a jewelry chest had fallen from an unknown vehicle.” In addition to this burglary, there was a report of damage to the front door knob/latch of a neighboring house that occurred during the same time frame.  No entrance was gained into that residence.
