Eye on the Street

Scott | July 23, 2013

Milling the bejeez out of West College Avenue. But don’t get too excited about the historic curbs reemerging, all you hapless pedestrians and school walkers. They only mill down the layer of asphalt that they’re going to replace.

D’oh!

We did a streetscape in a small town and to get the curb back to a normal height, we had to mill the pavement in one area 8 inches. The pavement cores we got had 10 inches of asphalt over 6 inches of concrete from 1911. It’s like a geological record.

Sounds like our driveway/street interface. We used to have elderly neighbors who could tell us about every inch of the archeology of it!
