If you are tempted to laugh off that piece “How Syracuse views Atlanta”, you might reconsider. While living in other parts of the country I often encountered people with very entrenched views of the South……views often formed from watching “Gone with the Wind” and perhaps having changed planes at Hartsfield. Some of the stuff I heard would leave me stunned.
I think that journalist is lazier than I am and that is saying something, considering I am too lazy to sign up to their website so I can make comments about how lame the article is.
Honestly, I looked at the date on the by-line and just thought it had to be an April Fools joke…
“They’ll smile the entire time, so smile back. Restaurants do things the same way.”
I’m generally as lazy as Brad but I’m going to sign up to comment just so I can recommend Antico Pizza for all the ‘Cusans looking for relaxed, smiling service.
I find it interesting that the insight into our fine city comes from a person who apparently has moved to Atlanta to do public relations.
I think everything in the article is pretty accurate except the assertion that Atlanta drivers will graciously let you change lanes. My experience is (and has been for 20 years) that most people on the expressway had rather eat dirt with a spoon than let you change lanes, even when it won’t inconvenience them one bit.
Completely, totally agree with this. As someone relatively new to Atlanta, and someone who has occasionally been in the wrong lane, I can promise you that NO ONE will let you in. In fact they will do the opposite and purposely block you. I’ve found just about everyone here to be friendly when you’re talking to them, but put those same people behind the wheel of their cars and everything changes.
Too many people, once they’re behind the wheel, start channeling their inner NASCAR driver.
Pretty accurate except for “A-Town”
I’ve been here 18 years and never heard anyone call it that.
