The DBF is launching an app for the iPhone

Darenw | August 29, 2012

Yep, it’s finally here.

An interactive scheduling app, allows you to assemble a schedule, check what’s happening at any given time, and all kinds of other stuff.  Apple just approved it, so we’re hoping to not be sued for $1.05B.

Nothing for Google/Android devices? That’s ok. I still find picking up the DBF hardcopy progamme and looking at it with my eyes to be faster than a bunch of pecking on a miniature screen in the glare of the sun……………………or are their hardcopy programmes this year? Please tell me there are. I order the hardcopy AJC daily. I deserve a hardcopy programme. Where can we pick them up around town so we get one for everyone in the family?

As usual, there will be printed programs that are the same thing as the AJC supplement from Sunday. They will be available all over the festival and should be at libraries and probably City Hall right now.
I also asked about an Android app and was told that it will be available for next year’s event.

Last Sunday? Uh oh. Someone in our household has already commandeered the DBF supplement. Time for a house search.

I grabbed mine at the Hop ‘n’ Shop on Saturday. I’m sure they’re all over the place.

Little Shop has a little supply. We should have enough to last us until the start of the festival.

      Dear AHID,

There are no plans to do away with the hardcopy program ever. It’s one of the most important ways for us to get the word out about what’s going on at the festival.

And I feel pretty certain that the AJC part of the AJC Decatur Book Festival would be particularly unhappy with such a move.

Great! Because I am still into that lightweight, flat screen media called paper!

Wonder if this would work on an iPad, which I own.

      Yes, it should.

I got the app last night and scheduled everything I want to see. Now if they just had an app that could put me in two places at once… or even three places at once!
