They didn’t take out The Ramones, did they?! Not The Ramones!
Hurry, hurry, hurry before I go insane. I can’t control my fingers, I can’t control my brain.
Aww, man… Now I wanna be sedated! That was truly a “Living Wall”: something for everyone. I will raise a toast of my Jack and Coke slushie to Da Ramones when I am sitting on what appears to be Victory Sandwiches future deck.
Now I just want a jack and coke slushie.
Actually, the Ramones are further to the left.
This may get me drummed off DM, but I’ve always been pretty ambivalent about this mural. It’s cute and all, but it’s kind of amateurish and its particular brand of NYC boosterism feels completely random and out of place since Johnny’s exited the scene. I was glad to have it when Johnny’s was there, but will not be all that sad to see it go now. With any luck, it will be replaced with an even more compelling piece of artwork.
They may not go down in history as the most musically talented band or thought provoking lyricists, but KISS is still one of my favorites bands. The mural still gives me a smile each time I walk by, despite the cheesiness of it all. I would be disappointed if it was completely removed.
Amen! Don’t touch the KISS mural.
Looking forward to a beautiful new mural!
There is nothing wrong with the one that has been there for years.
Well, other than the large rectangles hacked out of it, the lazily painted over Johnny’s logo/RED GIANT SUN, and its total irrelevance to the city of Decatur.
But OTHER than that, sure.
Only if it’s of a naked woman donning and shedding a wolf’s skin.
How about one of the new living walls literally? Growing plants vertically on supports with large planters on the ground. Why does a wall have to be painted or blank? It’s green, it’s colorful.

it would be kind of cool to have the plants growing up the current mural!
Thank you for the link! I am wanting to do a vertical garden in a corner of my backyard and not sure how to start – thanks again!
How about a farm to table still life?
I think the answer is clear: It’s time to rehire the artists responsible for the blue marble.
