Acura Integra Stolen from Coventry Road
Decatur Metro | August 23, 2012Pam writes in…
Our 1997 Acura Integra was (apparently) stolen from the street in front of our house [on Coventry Rd]. It happened between late Sunday afternoon and Monday morning (night of August 19-20). My husband went out Sunday afternoon during the rain to make sure the windows were rolled up; Monday morning (before 8 a.m.) it was gone. We were home the entire time.
We’ve filed a police report, but didn’t think to ask them if there’s been any recent trend in Decatur toward auto theft. We’ve lived on Coventry for over 11 years now — and parking in the street most of the time, as most of our neighbors do. As far as I know, this is the first time a car has been stolen during that period. (Again, I haven’t checked police records on that.)
Just thought fellow DM readers would like to know.
It was a black 1997 Acura Integra hatchback (old — surely stolen for the parts), GA license plate 307 ZPG.
Everyone may recall a Decatur Police Advisory from a few months back warning of a growing trend of older Hondas and Toyotas.

You’re not the only one…

Our 2008 Black CR-V was taken between midnight and 7am today from Carter Rd. I guess we can start a support group.
Our 2000 Acura Integra was stolen from the street in front of our house in Medlock while we were out of town in late June. Police found it stripped of its wheels and tires, front bumper and fenders, headlights, and engine computer in front of an abandoned house in Stone Mountain. Everything else was completely untouched, including a very nice aftermarket stereo. Seems like the thieves head out with a with a specific shopping list.
ditto- I had my 2000 Civic Si gutted as well- it ended up in Stone Mountain somewhere before it was towed to the impound lot. I live on Adair Street, and our complex has had several Civics stolen.
The guys even left a receipt with a credit card purchase on it from the local home depot on Lawrenceville highway (30033 location). We’ll see if Investigator Bellis comes up with anything.
Most likely he will find the person the credit card was stolen from
ML, not sure if you know exactly where in Stone Mountain your Si was found. Would be interested to hear as my 99 was stolen recently. Also, anything of the receipt.
Thanks!

It’s pretty heavy duty, seems to be working so far…
A red wrecker pulled up in front of our Oakland St. house on Saturday morning (8/18). It had a Not For Hire sign on the passenger-side door. I photographed it, but did not note the license number.
I called the Decatur Police non-emergency number (404-373-6551) recently to report a wrecker passing through the neighborhood at midnight, but not on Saturday.
The wrecker in the photograph has an ID stenciled on the door: USDOT 1767062GA.
Could have repo men.
So sorry to hear your news. July 2011, my 1999 Honda crv was stolen, and 11 months later my catalytic converter was stolen from under my replacement 2004 Honda crv, in Oakhurst. Also overnight when I was home. By the way, the “watch dog” is fired.
Are the police offering any suggestions for prevention besides locking?
Looks like the earlier reports this Spring and early Summer of stolen “vintage” Hondas and Acuras is continuing….
Such a specific type would lead me to believe a little bait may be in order.
Having had my “vintage” Civic Si stolen recently I’m strongly considering a bait car of my own. I don’t think these guys are going to like what they find inside.
An acquaintance from Lake Claire told me that about 30 cars were buglarizeed in her area this weekend. Despite having a long driveway that goes way into her property, two cars parked by her house were damaged and burglarized.
My 97 Integra was stolen last week in Marietta between the hours of 1am and 8am. Apparently there was another Integra stolen less than 3 blocks away in an adjacent neighborhood on the same night.
Let me know if you hear or see of anything…I’m fairly certain our vehicles were targeted and not just luck of the draw.
