Hmmm. All are headed by Republican administrations. Ain’t that a p!ss-cutter! :-P

Sonny Perdue, Governor? I’d say they need an editor.

The article wasn’t implying Sonny’s still the governor, it was merely talking about an ethics bill he tried to get passed, but basically allowed to be gutted before he left office. But the article aside, all the current governors of those states are still…yep, Republican!

Don’t take it too personally, tho– I was actually just trying to bait Token, but so far, he ain’t bit.
            :-D

Did you see the list of least-crooked states linked toward the bottom?

Or the link to Wal-Marts increasing home values in their vicinities?

Wasn’t our current Governor (Deal. R) the subject of an extensive ethics investigation when he was in the US Congress and didn’t he resign just before the investigation concluded.

All you have to do is look around at the never ending, hideous, suburban sprawl and you will come to the conclusion that there is a massive amount of cronyism in the State of GA. There was obviously no thought put in to quality of life/environmental factors, only who could line his pockets more by building yet another decrepit strip mall.

        Or build another road.

Here is yet another example of that corruption, and it’s not even hidden:

        Well said!

The sprawl, development, and bends in the road actually indicate that the local governments have to respond to requests and concerns of citizens. Large, broad-based consensus requires the acquiescence of more people, not fewer, and is a sign that corruption is LESS rather than more likely.

@ The New Yorker article: SO FREAKING TRUE!!!
I am Peruvian so it hits close to home. This morning my husband puts a plate of pancakes in front of my 5 yo daughter. Her reaction? “Why do you ALWAYS have to put it so far away from me”

‘nuff said. and I try NOT to spoil them!

My children are SO busted now. They act like chores or special requests for help are some kind of weird idiosyncracy of mine, some desire to flex my parental muscles, interfere with their inner peace, ruin their social life. Now I know that their welfare depends on my weird idiosyncracy to ask for a little household responsibility!

Thanks for mentioning this article; I probably would not have read it otherwise. Very interesting. Can’t wait until this group enters the workforce…

“Can’t wait until this group enters the workforce…” — The ones who already have are bad enough.
