Who are these people btw? I’m not crazy about the heternormative message this sculpture is sending in a progressive town like Decatur. Where’s the cuddling lesbians?
Agreed! We must rally against any display of love we don’t relate to personally! Is anyone else bothered by this blatant display of octogenormative values right on the town square? Young people fall in love too, ya know!
I am a big user of irony and satire, in both my spoken and written word. It is dangerous practice however. Many people misunderstand and want to hurt you. If Zanzibar was “just joshing” I did not get it.
I guess someone’s kids didn’t have a U.S. Presidents mobile growing up!
Though the upside is that they don’t have reoccurring night terrors involving William Howard Taft. “Don’t sit on me!” became an all-too-common refrain.
Oh man. I knew the Baby Einstein mobile I had hanging over the cribs was inadequate! I should have had a U.S. Presidents mobile! We actually do have a U.S. Presidents placemat…and a Spanish words placemat, multiplication placemat, and Roman numerals placemat. I have no evidence that anyone in the family reads them–they probably think they are some Pfaltsgraff motif.

Soooo…love is only relevant if the people experiencing it look, believe, and act just like you?
Thanks for imparting this heartwarming lesson.
Why are you not crazy about the message that cuddling sends?

Hehe I was just joshin’.
It’s kind of sad they didn’t pick up on that.

Still creepy after all these years…
I love this statue.
I left my bridal bouquet with them years ago. They are so sweet.
Kids love this statue. The other one too–Thomas Jefferson? But they always get confused and think it’s Stephen Decatur.

I proudly display my US geography placemats and matching Pfaltsgraff! heh heh
That may be your oddest comment ever. Hence, it’s my favorite. I could write a whole screen play based on those 3 sentences.
Seriously??
LOL. No. That would be one trippy mobile!
