    Chipotle Coming to Emory Village

    Decatur Metro | September 26, 2011

UPDATE: TNT has updated their post to say that Dunkin’ is out, but Chipolte still plans to open in the space and there’s “another concept was waiting in the wind [wings?] and is lease negotiations as we speak…”

Tomorrow’s News Today reports that both Dunkin’ Donuts and Chipotle will soon be opening in the old Druid Hills Bookstore space along Oxford Road in Emory Village.  The location is even MORE prime nowadays thanks to the new Barnes &Noble student book store across the street.

In case you’re not familiar with the area, here’s the location on Google Maps.  (However, note that the street view is a bit dated.  Where you see trees across the street is now a giant B&N/Starbucks/Student Center.)

Chipotle is going to do some serious business there. Wonder what it’ll mean for Willy’s?

I’ll take a Willy’s Burrito any day of the week, especially compared to Chipotle.

I would too, but convenience is king for college students.

Right, they can walk to Emory Village but Willy’s is a bit of a hike. Or are Emory students required to own a car?

The area just east of Emory around Clairmont is chock full of students as it has, along with the area just north of Emory along Briarcliff, semi-affordable off-campus student housing. Willy’s has no shortage of Emory student foot traffic.

…and it looks as though Kyoto Joe’s is no longer at Clairmont/N. Decatur. Drove by Sunday and didn’t see the sign. Wonder what could be coming next.

We used to love Chipotle, but in recent years kicked them to the curb in favor of Raging Burrito. It wasn’t a choice driven by convenience or even a conscious effort to buy local…We just grew out of Chipotle’s offerings, which have not diversified since they opened (and I think the quality of some components, like their corn salsa, have dropped over time).

Raging is da bomb. They have $2 drafts all the time, Kid’s eat free night one night, and $3 draft, any draft, another night.

Eh, I think I have 1 too many in me already. I was thinking of Square Pub with the kid’s night and draft beers and such. Nevertheless, I’m also a big fan of Raging.

Chipotle is the best, it will do tons of business there. You can hardly find parking at the one on Ponce, and I am sure this will be the same.

Great a Mexican McDonalds. I hope this doesn’t hurt Bad Dog’s business.
