Why Are We Afraid of Small Homes?

Scott | August 8, 2011

Do these homes frighten you? Does their lack of pretension offend your sensibilities? Do their modest proportions fill you with an unsettling sense of dread and leave you counting down the days until an old couch or broken refrigerator winds up on the porch?

Do you fear the criminal element surely lurking inside?

My gut says no. In fact, if anything, I’d guess that most folks would consider these homes a fairly representative sample of the charm we Decaturites like to boast about. And that’s ironic, given that every one of them–along with hundreds of others not shown–would be illegal to build under our current zoning code.

Blue Caboose To Close on August 27th

Decatur Metro | August 8, 2011

Jessica sends along this note sent out to friends of Blue Caboose from owner Michelle…

It is with mixed emotions that I am telling you that Blue Caboose is closing. I recently received an unexpected job offer which, after a lot of thought, I decided was too good to turn down.  I wish that I could keep the store going, but at the same time, I’m looking forward to spending more time with my husband and 3-year-old son.

Our closing sale starts Tuesday, August 9th. In special appreciation of our consignors,we are offering you 50% OFF purchases made using store credit. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about your account.  We will close at 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 27. Thank you for your support and friendship. I look forward to seeing around Decatur.
